well i recently (read: 6 days ago) dropped an e6300 @ 2.95ghz and 2gb of 6400 ram and a new case and coolers and DS3 and a nice vx2025 monitor in my room. the only thing left from the original system is the harddrives dvd drives and the graphics card, a XFX 7800GTX. now while i know its not a bad card, i have an itch for a BFG 8800 GTS 640mb OC and at £264 its mighty tempting. i paid more than that for my past two graphics cards (the 7800 gtx and a ati 9800XT w/ HL2) and i feel that it would compliment my system better than the 7800gtx.

i was planning on holding out for april/may for the refresh 8900s and the possibility of the r600. but 6 months after that the next line of gpus will be out anyway and as i said, 264 really isnt much compared to what i have paid before and considering i play at 1680x1050 i dont NEED a GTX for any reason. im not deluded enough to convince myself that i'm buying it for the next 18 months as i know in 12 i'll buy a new one and probably a new chip as well.

im now off to bed (been on a night shift) you all have until about 15:00 hours to convince me yay or nay weather or not to order one for arrival on monday (where i have 4 days off with which to perv over it). i have the money and a home for my 7800gtx in my brothers so that he can run SLI. so go on, do it to me, tell me how frakkin marvelous the card really really really is and that i cant live without it. PLEASE!!

well since moneys not an issue i say go for it since it looks to be an aswome card if theres room for it in the case :)

Well looks like you have already made up your mind

But the way I see it you either get the GTS 320Mb for <£200 or go all out on a GTX IMO.

Well SupCom is pushing it quite hard and i would like to play with my second screen on. plus im not adverse to a little FPS action from time to time which with the current and upcoming titlaes. the reason im not really looking at the gtx is that its a extra £100. and i cant really see the extra need when in 12 months i'll buy another card probably anyway.

bah decisions decisions.

I say invest in NVidia stock with all your unwanted cash until you have a game that needs a new card. This way you'll own a little bit of all the GTXs and GTSs floating around... won't that feel nice?

Ah, but in this case size really doesn't matter. It's one of those rare areas of life where the faster it happens, the better ;p

good pointAlienBC. i ordered it today anyway for delivery on monday. should be interesting to see the jump in performance.

It's an awesome card, I chose it for my shuttle as I think the GTX would have stretched the PSU a bit too far. Get around 7500 in 3dmark06 with everything in my sig @ stock.
