Hi what you guys think of this clock? I know its not the best i expected more from a 29B E6600?

Managed to get it to 3.2GHz on stock voltage.

Struggled from there onwards but have now got 3.4GHz on 1.48V in Bios.

Can i expected much more? Load temps dont go over 60C so far.

FSB is about 377Mhz, rest of rig is in my sig.

Sure it needs that much more vcore for 200Mhz? If so then its not a good 29B at all, i get 3.4 on BIOS 1.3v on the 2 L629B 6600s i've got. shooting for more Mhz might be a bit of a task and might not be worth the voltage needed for it. How're you loading it? I find TAT carries me wayy higher than anything else. What cooling are you using?

Thermaltakes bigwater 745. Just failed prime95 testing on 3.4GHz. So ive put it back down to 3.2GHz on stock. Looks like i need to go over 1.5V to get past 3.4GHz lol :(

Keep all the voltages on auto apart from cpu and memory.

Are you running them ram 'unlinked' or linked and async?

Yes i have only so far altered only the CPU and memory voltage.
Ram is unlinked. What is async?

I have the same problem with my E6600 and the same mobo as yourself
Running nicely at 3.3ghz but takes a huge jump in voltage to run 3.4ghz which pushes the temps right up
Its not worth it for the extra 100mhz when I can run it much cooler and lower voltage at 3.3ghz

This might help,

How to overclock the 680i

Also FSB voltage never seemed to effect anything when I used it so ive left it at 1.2v

Great thanks for that its interesting. Ive got mine on 3.3GHz now, seems to be where its happy without extra juice. Seems the Mobo is holding us back?

Was pretty similar for me aswell, to get mine to 3GHz i needed 1.425v and to get to 3.2GHz needed 1.5. Mine was orthos stable for 8 hours though and never hanged or crashed and after about 2 weeks of it at 3.2GHz i tried lowering the Voltage and it worked, so im at 3.2GHz with only 1.375 Volts now.

tbh that sounds poor for a 29B, especially considering you're under water

then again, not ALL chips from a good stepping are equal either.

Yep, not all good steppings are definetly good, just better odds :) For e.g My first 1Ghz AXIA T-Bird struggled for 1.2ghz at 1.85v while my next one did 1.6Ghz at 1.85v :D
