Hi, I have just installed 4gb of ram and a new CPU cooler and 4870 in my case.

CPU cooling is - The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro with the Arctic Silver 5 paste.

Now my case isn't the coolest but it's not bad (Case temp is at 36-38) and its also a very hot day at the moment.

Since i upgraded my e6750 CPU temp is: idle 38-40c and full load 58-62c, at 3ghz. Now I got these temps with my stock cooler, so no change, why?

Have I put the paste on wrong/to much/not clean old paste off enough? I did a line of it down center of CPU as told. The CPU cooler is dif fix on properly too.

This was all installed yesterday, so does it all take time to settle?

Should have left the original paste on the cooler. The paste it comes pre-applied with is just as good as AS5 (same company after-all).

As you say, today is very warm, so a rise in temps is to be expected. Is the fan running at full speed?

as5 takes a while to bed in.
also, it is warm today.

and the stuff on your HS before was MX-2 (iirc) which is better than as5 :(

My motherboard is the Gigabyte s-series (965P-S3) and in the bios I can't see anywhere that I can increase the CPU fan speed. Am I not looking in right place?

There's definately fan control within the BIOS. Can't remember exactly where as it's been a while since I use a Gigabyte board.
