MY EXE FILES KEEP DISAPPEARING!!!

I have reinstalled windows as I thought it was something I had deleted but yet again all my exe files on my desktop have gone!

Please help............
 
At what point did they disappear? They would disappear if you have done a fresh reinstall. I am not sure what you are trying to explain to be honest.
 
Yesterday they just went, there was a sound and then all the Icons went to the basic blank thing, I tried to see if I had deleted anything using a redelete program with no luck so I just reinstalled windows last night and after getting all my games and everything back up it just happened again?
 
I am running Malwarebytes as suggested on Google but it isn't finding anything and I have not deleted anything, I have chechanged the power saving options on the Hard disks from 20 minutes to 1000 but the exe shouldn't have gone completely and it should just re-register when it comes back up no?
 
The whole files have gone, when I right click the link it doesn't even ask to find them, it seems as though someone or something is deleting them from my E/Program files (86) folder
 
Type clearly in one post what is going on, it doesn't make much sense at the moment.

How many hard drives do you have?
Which Windows is it?
What files are going missing?
 
I have 4 HardDrives in one PC, a C drive which is a start up drive, D drive which is steam and E drive which is Origin and any other games and my G drive which is just for films, music and stuff.

It is Windows 7.

The whole entire games go missing, I only notice when the .exe files change icon and are no longer playable, after reading a few threads on google I think my only option is to wipe all disks and start again........
 
Check event viewer to see if there are any reported drive problems.



Things don't just 'disappear'

Try with just one hard drive in when you install windows.

Now add a second drive, install your games to it.
 
So you have re installed windows and now you can't see the previous icons which were on the desktop??

EDIT:
are they 4 hard drives or 4 partitions?
 
So basically your shortcuts to games on your desktop lose their link to the original file (As they lose their icon image and show the generic image)?

Maybe the hard drive the games is stored on (which looks to be separate from your C: drive) is faulty. As said above, check your event viewer for any errors and let us know :)
 
4 Harddrives and no I reinstalled windows 7 and then installed all my old games, steam , origin, vlc player, utorrent, skygo player and everything then games which aren't with steam or origin, Euro Truck Simulator, metro 2033, Farcry 1 and 2, Arma 2, starcraft 2 go missing, not just the icons or the exe but all of it.

I am going to wipe 3 of my drives completely and start again, G drive will be kept as it has my music and films and stuff on there.
 
That is correct yes but, to be on the safe side and for just general cleanup I will wipe the D drive as well.

I don't know what was happening but I am reinstalling everything as we speak and only downloading what I specifically need.
 
Sounds like a broken hard drive. You need to find out what's wrong, needlessly reinstalling Windows won't solve the problem

Did you check event viewer for hard drive errors?
