Hi all, I have finally got the cash to order my I5 upgrade and within my budget of £550 I have picked the following:

I am only overclocking to about 3.2 or 3.4, as I cant really afford a £30 + cooler at the moment might later down the road. Do this spec look OK?? Hopefully order this lot 2morrow (monday). Any advice??? thanks.

Yeah looks good to me, I should imagine 3.6GHz would be easily obtainable with the heatsink you've chosen anyway. I'd perhaps go for the Samsung F3 hard drive though, it's on "This week only" at the mo.

Any reason for wanting a 1tb hard drive ? surely better to get a smaller drive which is just as fast and add another drive later for storage ?

I would get a samsung 320gb f1 drive or western digital 320gb drive and get a better cpu cooler perhaps even the corsair one.

New 500+gig drives are usually on the 500gb platters which are faster.

I'm a seagate man myself but the Samsung F3 is probably a good alternative - I didn't rate samsung very highly in the past (prior to 2006) but my F1 RAID0 (2 drives) has been running since ~2006 now without issues.

Spec looks good - tho personally I'd have gone for one of the cheaper gigabyte boards and put the extra money on a coolermaster V8 or something like that... not a big fan of asus.

Eep, memory prices have gone up. I got the CL7 version of those Ripjaws only a couple of months ago and they were £8 less.

But you really don't need a £50 cooler to get over 3.4, I would not be surprised if you could do 4.0 with reasonable temperatures.

Right I have ordered the parts, with the samsung F3, so should hopefully arrive tomorrow and I am up and running by the night, as I have build many systems but only AMD systems and 1 P4. So I am hoping for a smooth build. Thanks again.
