Hello, I'll start with the description:
4GB Corsair XMS3 (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10600C9 1333Mhz Dual Channel Kit
500W OCZ StealthXStream 2 Power Supply
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM
ASUS P8H67-V Intel H67 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Stock cooler
I am not a gamer or a heavy user so I am using the integrated GPU. Now to the problem. I am hearing the annoying "cpu whine". I've been googling it and people said to disable the C-States to see if it solves and indeed after trying them one by one I found out that the C6 Report was causing it. When it is disabled the noise is gone. My question is, what causes it? Is it something faulty? Should I be concerned? What is the disadvantage of having it disabled?
