Hi guys,

just finished my first PC build (well on wed). Took me 4 hours in total, due to having problems with actually fitting the motherboard into the case! But after I worked it all out PC switched on first time and so felt very fortunate! Currently running everything like a dream, but I feel my cable management is quite... poor... to say the least so open to any help/suggestions.

case is an Antec Three Hundred Cool and quiet gaming case:

Congrats on the build :)

If you want neater cables...You just need to manage them, route them , rather than having them fly across the case.

For instance the Serial ATA cables for your Hard drive and CD drive could be neater, rather than just tied up :)

the power for your motherboard (The 4/8 pin one, black and yellow cable) could go down by the motherboard, rather than going across the CPU heatsink.

Just try things, it's good for airflow as well.

:eek: wow, thanks for the link.. will try and do some tidying up tonight. Also, how is he sticking them to the case??

The things he has put the cable ties though are called cable tie bases, they simply have a sticy back and on the other side you route the cable tie through a small hole, simple but great idea!

Use the cable ties already fitted behind the hdd bays.

It keeps everything nice and neat...

Heres some more pics of my antec 300 build, if you need any more inspiration :p

yer i've been trying to work out how to do it... the psu wires feel pretty stretched as it is... any tips? or youtube vids :p

Think the graphics card just died... Smartdoctor indicated that the card has overheated, and that I should contact asus, ATI drivers now won't install saying I don't have a card, and hardware monitor is saying there is no gpu..:confused::confused: Also I can't hear the gpu fan spinning.. Anything I can do?

:s that's mad, how the hell did you manage to over heat you GPU? those chips can go up to 120C and still be okish.
How long have you had the card for? chances are it might be still under warranty.

the gigabyte boards are a bugger for hiding cables...the two black cables that come installed in the 300 have to droop down over front of the mobo if you want them plugged in. Ive got same case and an AMD gigabyte board and I have the two cables in exactly the same place as you, and they droop down infront of the side panel fan hole and is quite and annoyance.

It said the GPU temp was at 118 degrees. Was VERY weird, as I say it was just as I uninstalled the ATI drivers to update to 8.8's. It all seems to be ok now though, back to a temp of 45 degrees with the latest cats/directx and smartdoctor..

seems to be running alright now, posted in the overclock section. Having a problem with the ram atm, won't clock above 800mhz.

Some new pics of what I tried to tidy up 2day:

edit: managed to slice half of one of the fans at the back (seems to be working, but just incase what size are they? and also what size fan should i get for the side of the case???

Hey again,

Wanted to install a fan controller... but was wondering if the 120mm fans i'm using will be supported as well as the antec case fans?

Also, what sort of equipment do I need?

Thanks,

This is a pic of inside my Antec P182 with 5 hard drives, and 5 case fans. All my case fans plug in to the mobo and the wires are either hidden behind the fans, or they route under the motherboard:

Regarding fan controllers, they usually come with everything you need such as 3 -> 4 pin adapters and vice versa, as well as extension cables. I find it much easier to just use the bios on my motherboard to set my fans to 60/70/80/90/100%.

a great first build meloco. a lot of us antec 300 owners post our 300s in the case central area. heres the thread i made: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17914921

im also wandering about the 4pin fans as i would like to hook mine up to the controller as ive got a spare dial which isnt being used.

i think the best thing to do if your comfortable is to take all the cables out, and the power cables and do a complete session of cable management, taking ideas from ocuk members antec 300s. for example routing power cables to the cable management area using zip ties and zip tie bases.

note: i have my fans hooked up to a akasa fan controller as you can see in my thread. gonna check out the 140mm fan as i have the time.

for reference two pics from my thread:
