My first build completed!

Thanks to all from OcUK, learned a lot from reading things on here.

Parts where bought slowly over the course of a few months, due to good deals on the Members Market and This Week Only offers on OcUK.

It is basically the rig in my sig, don't think I have forgotten to list anything important.

Probably going to add another 5770 later if it needs it, I assume it will due to the primary monitor resolution of 2048x1152, but we shall see how it goes.

Not bad cable management for my first time ever.

The horrible stock AMD cooler will be replaced with my Noctua NH-U12P SE2 when they send me the bracket to make it fit the fight way on AM3 boards.

Currently got no desk or chair as it is my first build, so cant accually use it until then

Logitech G11, I've got one too.

Nice build for a first time, I think my first was probably a lot messier than that!

You may need another 5770 eventually, but the beauty is they're so cheap it's not a big deal in a years time for example, and you'll get a massive boost in a lot of games.

One more thing, with no desk or chair, how do you sit or write?!

Liking it xBLiNG! Looks nice and tidy, if you've got the case maxed out with fans you should get some pretty descent air flow.

That's what I was thinking, I got my Sapphire one for £105 off the MM, sealed too. Two should be about equal to a 5870, so that's all good.

Well I have a chair for my TV/PS3, but no where to set up the PC

Thanks, yeah the HAF 922 come with lots of fans, so good airflow, only one it hasn't got is the side fan and that's because I got the windowed version so cant fit it.

Ah, sounds good! If you don't have a side fan you may want to look into getting third party coolers should you crossfire 5770's. They can get pretty noisy when shoved next to each other.

There is a slot between them and they are quite cool running cards, I will probably do some benchmarks and note the temps with one and then with two, see if I actually need it.

Yep I love it

The CM-690 II seems to be what most people choose over the 922 but I prefer the looks of the HAF, the fact the the fans are bigger and I don't really like blue LEDs.

Yeh, I'm with you there! I'm using a HAF 932, and while I admit it isn't the prettiest thing, it does the job and does it well

Plus I also way prefer red LED'd to blue.

Yep they are great cases for air cooling. Lots of room too.

I'm working on the desk atm, need something big, for two monitors and the tower itself.

Yep, great combo, both really good and not too expensive either.

for a first time builder, i get confused on all the cables that come with a modular PSU

It's really simple tbh, just take everything nice and slow, lurk a lot of forums, watch YouTube vids on stuff, especially the components that you know you will be using, that way you are already familiar with them when they arrive.

Get a spec me thread going on here, give as much info as possible regarding budget and uses for the PC, ask questions as to why people chose certain parts and look at benchmarks of everything.

As for the PSU, most modular ones are infact "Semi modular" this just means that they have the cables that you have to use (e.g. the motherboard power and such) hard wired in. They then contain a bag of extra cables that are plugged into the unit if needed, to power things such as graphics cards and the like. This is different to a non modular that just hast every cable hard wired, making it messy if you don't need them all, this can also effect airflow.
