Morning all,

The specs are:

3 month old OcUK Huntkey 500W PSU
brand new Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065)
brand new quad core processor
a brand new Freezer Seven Pro 7 heatsink/fan
3 month old 1950pro graphics card
Coremaster CM-690 chassis

I've put it all together but when I switch it on, it turns on for about a second and then switches off again. The CPU and Chassis fans turn and the motherboard light is on. The motherboard light remains on even when the computer shuts down.

The motherboard isn't touching the chassis (far as I can tell) and the heatsink is strapped on as tight as the law of physics allows. I think it is definitely touching the CPU.

The bios doesn't go past POST. I have disconnected everything so that I just have motherboard,CPU and RAM and it still doesn't boot up.

I've also checked that the lugs underneath are not shorting the board.

Can anyone help? (This is my first build btw so may have overlooked the obvious)

Cheers

in case you missed it in the other thread

can you give more detail such as the brand and ram model you are using, since different models may take different voltages and telling to the wrong information may be bad
