Welcome to my first ever build. Hopefully you guys can give me some advice or comments in general. I have been planning on building a new PC from the start of the year since none of the consoles appealed to me and I found myself spending more time on the PC anyway.
I'd like to point out that at the start of the build I had a budget of £1200 I managed to get the rig up and running on this budget however i'm now spending on additional items and continuing work on the rig.

Okay phase one was pretty simple, I took all my initial parts from the list and built the PC. Obviously as a noob to all of this my cable management is horrible. None the less it all booted up first time and I felt pretty smug that it worked GO ME! After this nothing happened for about a week as I was doing very important things (downloading and playing games mainly), I then overclocked the CPU to 4.2GHz and its been left at that ever since.
Ok I didn't plan phase 2 i'll be honest, my friends were heading to overclockers for some parts for a mining rig and I ended up tagging along and walking away with a new keyboard as a replacement for a bog standard old microsoft keyboard id had for years. I picked up the Corsair Vengeance K70 which seems to be a brilliant keyboard so far. Its really well built and has simple features for the lights and volume and so on. Nothing overly complicated which is the way I like things.
I love the storm scout 2 case and I don't regret buying it however I didnt like the fact the window was so small. As i'm not using the two fan mounts on the side I thought it would be cool to modify the side panel. Its not finished yet but the whole rig is very much a WIP. Here you can see a picture of it cut, the window still needs to be added but if you look at the first pictures you can see the difference.
Phase four and now I've decided I don't like looking at the back of the GPU PCB any longer. I ordered the gtx 780 backplate unfortunately not from OC as the don't stock it (Booo!). I first fitted it to see what it looked like then today I decided to change it a little and started to apply paint. It needs a few more coats of paint but I think It will have a good finish in the end.
As you can see I still have plenty of things to do. The window and backplate need to be finished and cable management needs a massive look at. I'm going to remove the HHD trays from the case, I ordered a bay converter so as soon as that comes I can hide the HDD's. The build parts were ordered 11 Jan, 14 to give you an idea of how long this has taken so far. I've been putting time into it when I can when work/finances allow.
I'm also on the lookout for a new monitor, i've been keeping an eye on 4k monitors however i'm really not sure what i'm after yet.
I'll keep this topic updated should it interest anyone and hopefully I can finish off with some decent pictures.
