Hi all, this is the first build that i have put together on my own.

I wanted a pc that would play the latest games at high/max settings and will still run them well in a couple of years time.

with advice from the members on here, i went for this lot

-intel i5 3570k, as it is good for over clocking
-mis z77 mpower, it looks cool, and and space for another gpu if i need one in the future
-his hd 7950 iceQ boost card
-bitfenix rader case
-benq 27" screen

I was going to reuse these couple of parts from my old pc
-ocz zs 750w power supply
-corsair vengeance 8gb ram

i am all up and running now on windows 8 64, and the difference in performance compaired to my old set up is fantastic!
The games are so much snoother, and colours that i have never seen before!!

less than a week later i was looking on the forum again and i kepted looking at different cpu coolers.
it isnt something that I am going to need for quite a long time, as i am going to keep the standard clock speed, but it is nice to have.

I also was thinking about some faster ram, and again advised from the members on here, i went for some :-)

-Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler. This thing is massive!!!!!! and very very nice.
-Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 1600MHz Dual Channel 4x4gb sticks.

I am thinking about another 200mm in the top to suck the air out, do you think i need it?

thanks

I thought i would give the OC genie a go on the msi mpower.

turn pc off, press button on mobo and turn back on again.

i was running 3.4 ghz, now running 4.2 ghz :-)

will give some games a go tomorrow and see what they are like and keep a eye on temps etc

I have had abit of a small update.

I wanted to get better air flow to the gpu, so i decided to take the hard drive cage out, and re mount them at the top.

I got another 200mm bitfenix fan as well.

200mm on front pushing into the case
120mm on botton pushing into case

200mm on top, exhaust out
120mm on back exhaust out.

with the cage gone, there is nothing in the way for the air flow to the gpu, cpu so they get a nice flow of air.

I had another clean up of the wires as well.

what do you think?

here is the cage out (i had to remove the pop revits)

tbh im not all that clued up on OC ram speed etc.

everything is standard oc. im running windows 8 64

it was put together, os up dates and 12.11 on the gpu

my next job is to read up on how to update the mobo bios lol

yes i changed from the his iceq boost to the gigabite windforce x3 7950.

would It be worth putting a fan or two into the case side to blow onto them?

Apart from the crossover wire, do I need anything else to get it up and running please?

Hi all

I have fitted the second 7950 and have had a game on bf4, but the FPS are around 20+ down!!

where am I going wrong please?

thanks
Ian

this is how my pc looks now (but only 1 crossfire orange bit in)

I am thinking about replacing the 2 7950 with 1 1070 card.

would it be worth liquid cooling the cpu? over the cooler it has now please?

some updates to my build.

new mouse, it is the Madcatz R.A.T. PRO S Gaming Mouse

and a new keyboard

the keyboard feels a bit strange compared the the old microsoft 5000 it has replaced that is around 4 years old
