Okay, i know im going to need help getting my first camera, im going to look around google etc before buying to find out special features, tech spec etc, and ill pop on here every so often to ask for your advice on what ive found out.

This thread is most likely going to be ongoing, so if you see this pop up to the top of this list, please take a few mins to see what ive said :) id be very grateful if you could.

Okay, so ive already done a bit of advice here finding out about a decent camera for my first purchase. Ive been told about 350D and 400 D and a 40D and i think its a 70D?

Now ive found a certain one, £180-200 ive been offered:

Digital Camera XT / EOS 350D Camera - Body only

Is that worth it?

Thanks for reading the start of my new found photography hobby :)

James.

what is your budget? What kind of photography are you going to shoot?

My budget, i dont have one, but i think i should set aside around 200, atleast?

So really, realistically, for a decent standard SLR im looking at around £250, so ill say anything up to £300. At the most, for that id want a starter lens, something to keep me going until i need/want to expand into different areas of photography, when i feel i want to extend my knowledge and skills.

I want to take pictures of skies, day and night, the oceanic scenary and picturs of places like the dales, and woods, and lakes and rivers etc, beautiful locations around where i live (Denholme, outskirts of Bradford).

I would like to take some picturs of other random things, just for experience, like my guitar, i want to get into professional photography as a general hobby. Id like to (when i pass and get a car) go out for a drive and stop where ever i feel like i could get a few decent snaps. We have some of those electricity making windmills/windfarms up on the moors not far from me. They are always good to capture.

My friend, whos a model usually pays professional togs around £850 for her shoots for mags, she usually asks for around 5 years experience or more, but shes offered to let me take shots to gain some skills, she wouldnt use them, they are mainly for my portfolio, for me to gain new skills in different areas etc, but thats quite a while away yet once im skilled.

Try and find out how many actuations it has had, and see if you can live with the 1.5" lcd screen for reviewing images

Back to the point, i dont want to spend more than £300 to be honest. I wanst something to start me off, and in say 1-2 months, buy new accessories for it. Id use my laptop where ever i use my camera so the screen on the camera wouldnt be an issue.

Brilliant, illlook into that, how much should i spend on a 350D and which is better out of the 350D and 400D? Would it be worth forking out the extra for the 400D?

Ill also look into it.

CANON SLR DIGITAL CAMERA Rebel XT/ EOS 350D+ LENS + 4GB

Cant figure out what lens you get but you do get one £300 delivered.

Worth it?

He has 15, so im setting my heart on this, i may even buy now and pay in a month when i can afford it. Guaranteed it then.

Add me to msn or email me the link, i cant seem to find this but for £20 more i may aswell just get it new.

EDIT:Found it.
