Hi all,

So for my close family, I've ordered a cocktail shaker/mixer kit.

However I don't actually know much about cocktails. What alcoholic drinks do I require to create a good majority of drinks? The juices and fruits are not really a issue, its more that I don't know what alcohol to get.

I've got quite a few basic drinks like Barcardi, Malibu, Bailey's, Whiskey and I think some rum. I also purchased today some Tequila, Cachaca and Triple Sec.

Many thanks in advance

Ash

What cocktails do you like? Not much point spending loads on alcohol and mixers for things that aren't nice.

Fresh mint and angastura bitters can be good to have on hand. Ice as well.

As mentioned Gin and Vodka are the big ones you are missing. When you get down to it though there are cocktails for just about drink. Tia Maria, Grenadine, Midori, Champagne can be used.

Obviously Vodka, Chambord is in a lot of cocktails

Vodka, kahlua, gin and dry vermouth.

Turns out I have some Vodka (It's Smirnoff with Cinnamon and Gold flakes) - That should do for now I hope. I also have some Gordon Gin so seems that is covered.

With regards to cocktails she likes, shes not tried many - This whole thing is meant to be a new experience hence the starter kit. Pina Colada and Caipirinha are the two shes tried and liked.

I just want to cover a good majority of drinks so she can try a load of them.

Thanks for the advice though, I'm gonna start looking these up and seeing whats best to order.
