Hello guys.

Well... I went ahead and bought myself an Asus P5B Deluxe, E6400 (allendale), and 2Gb (2x1Gb) Geil ULL PC800 memory. Thought Id go for the jugular, and after updating the bios, I went straight up to 400mhz FSB, memory 1:1 @ 4-4-4-12, giving me 3.2Ghz!

So far, its been Orthos and Memtest stable... my only concerns are the temps. Core temp during Orthos is at 57deg - which is prob OK, but MB temp is a bit toasty at 49 deg C. Im using Asus Probe to get these readings - are these OK?

My core is running at 1.375v (1.31v in Probe), memory at 2.1v, and all other voltages in AUTO. are these excessive? Is Probe accurate at reporting temps/volts?

Absolutely over the moon with my overclock so far - just keeping the fire extinguisher ready though!

Using a Freezer Pro 7.

Ive managed to reduce the tems a little - reduced core temp to 1.35v (actual reading 1.30) and set various voltages from auto -> NB to 1.45v. SB to 1.5v. I dont trust the Auto setting.... tried it for CPU and volts went right up to 1.5!

My CPU temps are now down to about 53 deg C under load, and MB temp is about 46 deg C. The MB temp is concerning me though.... at idle its a very high 42 deg - my CPU is cooler at 40 deg! Any advice here? Is the MB temp accurate?

Another problem - sound crackle & pop. Im being a cheapskate for now and am using the onboard sound - which is actually quite excellent apart from the issues. On another forum, I was advised to remove 4 Windows updates - KB919007, KB920685, KB920872, KB922582 then let windows install them EXCEPT for KB920872 (which I deselected so that Windows update never reinstalls it) and the sound has improved 1000%. But when listening to music, its still there... but if I turn WAVE output down to below 70% it seems to totally disappear. Any ideas?
