I have had another pc on seti for a few days, nothing special, AMD 64 x2 4000+ with no gpu.

Results did not exactly come in thick and fast but they all count right.

Then, just over an hour ago, I added a nVidia 8800GT and the difference is amazing (note the cpu time) :D

The outlook for my 5870 and the 4870 Toxic is not looking good just wish there was some firm news on the upcoming nVidia stuff.
At the moment things dont look that great, prob end up with a gtx295.

Good stuff! GPUs really do make a huge difference to how much work your cruncher gets through.

One minor thing though - it's the 'Run time' that shows the total time taken for a WU on your GPU, not 'CPU time'. Not that it matters much as it's still reet fast :D

I was going to ask the question - whats the difference between run time and cpu time but forgot to post it :o - thanks for clearing that up.

Results are now flying in :D only downside is my case temp has gone ballistic.

Card vents inside the case, can barely touch it for more than a second or so.

I have taken the side panel off the case till I sort the airflow over the weekend, good old nvidia - you cant have the gain without some pain

As you welll know.....

I'm runnig 3 x GTX260's aircooled in my case - Coolermaster Stacker 830 nvidia

Full Load:

Q6600 @ 3.6 Ghz - 68/70
GPU's @ 1476 hz - 84, 84, 79
Room @ no central heating - 26

:D

What fan speeds are you having to use? Also what motherboard you got? My UD5 has horrible spacing so the top card gets much hotter than the bottom :(

Another on the bandwagon of never turning their radiators on :D

You would think all GPU vendors would fit coolers that shoved air out the back of the case. Especially the monster cards. My 5870 Vapour-X is a great card and cools well, would probably be even better if all the hot air went out the top of the case. It is somewhat mitigated by the mahoosive intake about an inch below it, but still! :p

Same hear - don't need heating with PC on :D

Motherboard: MSI P7N SLi Platinum

Bottom two GTX's right next to each other.

Fan speeds @ Auto - 55, 65, 45

Anyone tried lapping the CPU?

Just looking into now myself as Q6600 is well past waranty.

Sorry if already posted elsewhere.

p.s. Wonder how stable my Q6600 is @ 3.825Ghz?

Answer: Not at all.....
