as above really. just purchased a mid 2010 13" Pro for £600 and as it's my very first one i was wondering if people have any tips/tricks or apps which i should get.

thanks in advance

Hug it every evening when you put it to sleep :)

Spend plenty of time using the trackpad as after a little while it'll be come instinctive and other ones won't be as nice to use.

Assuming you have lion it'll scroll the wrong way round, go to system preferences, trackpad, scroll and zoom, the unstick the top one "scroll direction" and the fingers will make it clear which way round to do it.

Safari is the best browser in Lion now (at least in my view) and iTunes in osx is much better than windows.

Enjoy :)

How are you finding it? As fast/faster than you expected? I'd love a mbp but i just know if i got one now, id be kicking myself when the refresh comes in a few months.

i could never afford a new one as have other commitments at present but i'm loving it.

it seems smoother than a windows machine. it's pretty quick too but my pc in sig is pretty fast but in comparison it's not a million miles away really and for a laptop thats pretty impressive.

Yay hugs :)

I would recommend Lion really as Snow Leopard will be quietly phased out of support (at some point, can't remember when it was for Leopard) and Lion brings in a much better implementation of spaces and full screen applications, which for me its the biggest plus as full full screen iTunes and safari become a 3 finger swipe left and right from each other making the whole thing uncluttered and a really nice space to work in.

Can't really remember all the other improvements from the two but it was a nice boost last summer

I'm still using OSX 10.6.8. Have no problems what so ever.

Thought about updating to Lion but heard about cases of 15"/17" MBP overheating quickly.

On an even flat surface my MBP is very quiet and cool.

Get used to bashing the trackpad and power key until it finally comes randomly out of sleep after anything between 2 and 30 seconds... At least that's what have to do with my Air... Rathe annoying when you're used to windows machines coming out after one click and a second or two... (seriously... I do sometimes wonder if it's broken..?)

Worth asking in an Apple Store about it. Definitely if its under the warranty.

My mac only did that occasionally when I had the old mechanical hdd in it. With the SSD its fine and instant from sleep.

I think your air has a little problem

blasphemy! lion scrolls the correct way round, everything else is wrong!

:p

no seriously, you get used to it and it does make much more sense.

Ahahaha! I couldn't handle down for up and up for down, hurt my brain so switched it back for my own sake :p

i've not changed this either and have got used to it quite quickly.

it's just navigating around the mac which i'm getting used too at present. only 4 days of ownership and i'm in love already :p

just ordered myself a hardshell sleeve to protect it too.

I already had that reverse scroll in SL configured in bettertouchtool. Using an iphone and ipad, then using the scroll on the trackpad just felt weird otherwise.
