I had the opportunity to purchase a 13.3 mid 2012 i5 2.5g macbook pro that was still in its box unused with DP to HDMI lead, DP to DVI-D lead and targus laptop bag for a steal of a price. anyway updated to 16g of crucial 1600mhz DDR3 and a 256g samsung 840 pro SSD and this little laptop flys along sweet as a nut.

real pleased with it so far! I love the size of it, very light. perfect really!

So i never had a mac book pro so whats the do's and dont's and whats best to clean it with?

Trackpad commands are definitely worth getting used to, they make life on a mac so much more fluid. There is are a few basic ones here.

As far as cleaning goes (assuming you mean the screen) I just use some screen monitor wipes which we stock at work and they do a pretty good job.

Enjoy!

Haha, better buy than mine, even I'll admit :D

Luckily the MBP is easy to clean because of the glass display (more difficult to scratch). Fold a microfibre cloth, damp one side, keep one dry. Wipe with damp side, dry with other. Avoids watermarks that way. Same thing for the rest of it (though of course watermarks are less of a concern).

Other things...I always recommend trying the Apple apps first, they're all pretty good if they meet your requirements. XtraFinder and VLC are must haves IMO.

Mine was barely a couple days old when the gf decided to peel potatoes whilst watching desperate housewives on my macbook. There were little splatters of starch all over it :<

Thankfully a very slightly damp cloth and they come up like new!

Haha OMG! I'd have flipped, proper OCD about my stuff.

Hi, and yea i was lucky only £25 more than yours but iam well pleased with it, so quick and light a real bargin!

thanks for the tips on keeping it clean, as always i never plan to spill anything on it but i dont think anyone ever plans that anyway. the only laptop i know that will take a spill is the lenovo T series laptops the true mac build quality PC laptop in my opinion.

anyway enjoying the MBP;)

Do's - smile, hug it and use it all the time, you'll get really into it really quickly

Don't drop it....

I've drops mine loads, and you can't even tell really. The construction is that good. Same can't be said for any Windows laptop tbh. 4 years old and still going strong. Can't say I've had any Windows system around for that long. :D
