Well after browsing the forums for ages i've finally given in and have begun my first mod. Its going to be quite simple but don't want to mess it all up.
The start case is a Supermicro 750. I'm making an new front panal and getting rid of all the 80mm fans and putting 5 120mm fans in. 2 intake and 1 exhaust for cooling the MB and bits. 1 to blow some air over the hard drives which will be mounted in 3 of the 5.25 bays and another exhaust fan to take the hot air from the top of the case. I'm also getting rid of the zalman 9700 fan and putting 2 120mm on it in a push pull sort of style to keep noise down as the fans too loud at the moment.
The next part will be to make a window in the side so i can see the MB in the bottom of the case and then build up lighting set to go on the fans and around the side of the window. This will be connected to a switch so it can be turned on and off as i please. Will also put a fan controller in so i can shut it up if i leave it on over night. Thats the basic plan anyway. Progress will be dependant on how many hours i get at work but i hope to have it finished soon!

The first major hiccup i have is some of the original holes are in the way for mounting the 2 120mm so im going to fill them in with epoxy then cut the holes. The fans are going to be mounted forward of the front (ie where it is in the pic) not inside so the epoxy wont get in the was as i'll apply it from the back.

Applying epoxy to fill those holes will be hard/ might look scruffy...may i suggest that you cut a fresh panel or put a fresh panel over the top of that one...only a suggestion

Ye i think i'm going to fix a small panel on where its need rather than epoxy after looking at it. I was thinking epoxy because i've used it on holes similar (on a mast rather than a case) and its still going strong plus i have some in the garage.

Also what is the best way to get rid of the sticky stuff left behind after removing the sound absorber thing you can see in the bottom of the case. I think its the Akasa one. Would some form of regular solvent do it?
