I have been tempted by the dark side and bought a Nintendo 3DS XL, charger and docking bay (very overpriced piece of plastic :() plus Zelda Ocarina of Time was free with it. Unfortunatley Amazon posted the game a day later so it won't here till tomorrow, but I got the console earlier today and bought Game Gear Shinobi right away and was struck with immense nostalgia for one of my favorite ever games. I also just ordered 3DS shinobi which was only £8.99 plus screen protectors, so for now I will just have Zelda + 2 Shinobi games.

Are there any other games like these anyone can recommend? I've actually never played any Zelda games before but I've read a lot about Ocarina and it looks epic. I also used to really like Super Smash Bros on a friends gamecube, but havnt checked if I can get this for the 3DS yet. And Mario 2 looks good but is a bit too expensive atm, Id like to start out with grabbing more <£10-15 games if there are some good ones.

I have just purchased one myself I got new super mario bros 2 bit of a short game but the replay value to achieve the 1 million coins is ok and the 2d gameplay is just as good as always. Currently playing through zelda still just as good as it was on n64 just a bit more polished. The 3d thing for me is a bit gimmicky so doesn't get turned on. I have seen gameplay footage for resident evil and it looks brilliant the only thing is the fact the circle pad pro isn't out for the XL yet so im going to wait until that is released (it looks comfortable too)same with metal gear. Im really holding out for some RPG goodness to be released which hopefully will be soon.

My next purchases are probably going to be pilot wings, mario 3d and kid icarus.

Kid Icarus looks good. The 3D setting triggers my vertigo and migraines instantly so it has to stay off (Portal 2 trailer also does this to me, balance disease :().

Resident evil needs the circle pad right? The XL version isn't released yet, and I'm not into FPS games if its one of those. I got this thing for good old platformers, console RPGs and beat em ups, maybe I should try Pokemon games too (yes I hear those are meant to be really good).

I don't want any PC type games on it, that's just ewww.

Oh I'll definitely get all the Mario and sonic games eventually, just don't want to pay £30 for each game yet.

It benefits from the circle pad but doesn’t require it.

Mario 3D land is great as well, as is Starfox, Ace combat is surprisingly good on the 3DS its not just a cheap port.

I'm a bit let down at the tiny collection of retro games on the marketplace though. The sonic games they have aren't that good, and I'd really like Shinobi 2, Space Harrier and a donuld duck game I can't remember the name of from the game gear too.

Mario games probably won't go down for a long time. Nintendo games seem to hold their price.

Theatrhythm final fantasy is cheap and fun, if you like rhythm games. There is a demo on the shop. Ghost recon shadow wars is suppose to be good and is cheap. I have it, but haven't played it yet, too much a backlog and I'm still buying games :(.

Yea figures. I'll play the two I've ordered first before splurging out £30 per Mario game. It was already £200 for the console, charger + dock, screen protectors and 3 games so far.

Already played through game gear Shinobi about 6 times today, that game never gets old.

I'd be looking at some of the DS Castlevania games, such as Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia. They're beautiful games, great graphics, great music, but my god... They are so, so hard.

Hours of entertainment to be had.

If you want to rekindle your Mega Drive days :p you can get the Sonic Collection for the DS (works on the 3ds ofc) which has sonic 1,2,3 Sonic and Knuckles and Knuckles in sonic 2 + 3 :D

Its really good I think I picked it up for about 8quid from Game when I was last in the UK. It also has a save function  although it just saves your game from the start of whatever zone/act you are at still very handy though :)

Zelda OOT is amazing, and altough I was dubious about the 3D aspect, disliking it for movies, it acctually works extremly well. I found I used it for the whole game and was engrossed as much as I was when I played it on the N64.

Seemed easier this time round mind.

Already have that and sonic generations on steam. I'm more interested im more quality game gear games, yet I saw Sonic Labyrinty and lolled (worst sonic game ever made, the game gear was all about Shinobi, space harroer and a few great Disney games).

Ah I just googled and found out that Donald Duck lucky dime caper was the same type of gameplay as Mickey Mouse castle of illusion, I think I saw something like that for the DS.
