OK, this is my first post here and indeed my first on any OC forum so please be gentle, after spending a goood few hours reading many forums I managed to get this OC out of my system.

I have a Abit AV8 with a Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Core
2 x 512mb PC 3200 Crucial Standard RAM
Generic PSU 350W

I have managed to OC the above @ 2500mhz using a HTT multiplyer of 4x, CPU Ratio of 10x and a FSB of 250, and stock 1.40 voltage.
The memory is @ the DDR200 setting with timings of 2-2-2-7 and 1T

I was just wondering if this seems decent, or if anyone can spot a problem with it, its all still a little new to me. The temps are 35c Idle and never top 50c under load, it seems solid as a rock, only done a few short prime95 tests though and some heavy 3D gaming.

I have read of these doing 2800mhz on stock cooling and voltage but if I push mine any higher than a 250 FSB its an instant lock up.

Any suggestions on how to improve on what I have now or if I should leave it as is, is welcomed :)

It is DDR400 memory, I have set it to run at DDR 200 in the BIOS this is the lowest setting available, if I set it any higher I cannot get the FSB past 230 without it locking up. I assume that means its running at 200 MHZ? as it stands now.....

I will try lowering the HTT to 3x now and see how that goes.

Well setting the HTT to 3x causes all sorts of problems, for some reason when 3x is selected it unlocks the AGP lock, u can re-lock it in the BIOS but when u boot into windows it is unlocked again.
I believe its a documented problem with these boards, that the 3x cant be used, 3x was not even there as an option untill I updated the BIOS, I had only 1-2-4-5 to choose from.

Something else which I just dont get and makes no sense, on the HTT 4x setting if I adjust the FSB to 255 the CPU jumps up to 2900mhz and locks up? I dont know where the 2900mhz comes from as with my maths it should be 2550 =-/

However is I go straight to 260 FSB it shows as 2600 MHZ but still locks up, even with voltage @ 1.6 - im guessing 2500mhz is my limit =) thats still a decent OC......is'nt it

hopefully that link above will work =-/

Yeah I have DDR333 as an option, ill try that now

Setting it @ DDR 333 and it wont post, have to clear the CMOS to fix it  same for for DDR 266

I read a post on 3dguru that having a lower memory bandwith like DDR200 but with tight timings was better that having it set to DDR333 with loose timings, so hopefully im not loosing too much here, or am I...I just dont know
