Hi guys

I'm just about to perform my first oc and want to stress test the system to minimize issues later. I also plan on getting some before and after benchmarks just to see what differences it actually makes.

Few questions.
Whats the best way of stress testing my machine? I've downloaded Prime95 and set that running. It's been going about 40 mins now and cpu temp has peaked at 42c. Is there something better? Looking at the overclocking stickys they don't appear to have been updated for a while. Suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Been using OCCT gives a lot of info in one prog temps, graphs at the end of the test saves a image of the graphs cpu core temps vcore ect.. might be worth a look for yer

I did download OCCT but haven't looked at it yet. Processors an i7 3770k with a Corsair H110.
I did wonder just how accurate these readings were. But surely every program that picks up this info would return the same results?

After some reading after this post I tried the Intel Burn Test and used a different program to report the temps. Still only hit 54C.

Im getting mid 50's temps at stock with my 3770k and h80i but you will find any oc and the temps start to rise, at the mo im at 4.4ghz and voltage at 1.2 and temps have gone up around 10c per core, not to bad but im still trying to get my head around all the other mobo settings like offset voltage,

IBT will get the absolute highest temps out of your CPU, but that's not the kind of load you can replicate in real world usage.

Prime95 is a good test for proper stability.

I've spent a fair bit of time today playing with this.
I'm not sure I'm doing this perhaps right but. I have got her to 4.6 with 1.19 Vcore. It's passed a High IBT test and temps reached 70c.
All I have done is set the CPU Clock Ratio, disabled Turbo Boost and left the other power saving stuff on auto.
Changed the advanced memory settings from auto to inputted but I haven't changed these yet from the auto values.
Changed power settings. PWM phase control to exm perf, vocre voltage response to fast changed the vcore llc to turbo and the vocre current protection to turbo. (I cant recall where I read about those last 2 but hope that's right.)
Upped the CPU Vcore and left the rest on default settings.

Am I doing the right thing? Or am I one step away from doing some damage.

Edit: The main thing I can see between this and the begginers guide is the jumps involved. The guide said about doing 5Mhz at a time but with the ratio we're jumping 100 at a time so need more of a vcore jump to compensate.

Thanks for your help and feedback sofar guys.
I've got it to 4.7 with 1.275 vcore but cpuz is showing max 1.308 and i'm running prime for 4 hours so far. Temps have hit 82c highest. Touchwood this is stable.

I think this is as far as I should go temp wise. Anyone confirm this?
