Hello y'all,

so I have been thinking about making my first OC on this rig that well I don't see any point selling because however I try I wont get it on the + side.

Now I have no idea what I'm supposed to do but I thought that asking on this forum would be a step forward in the right direction.

Oh yeah the specs, how silly of me :P
Here they are:

AMD A4-5300
Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4
+ I can use 6 fans for cooling if it gets too spicy!

I hope this kind of thread has not been asked a million times, if so then my deepest apologies.

to be fair, no point overclocking that cpu... its not an unlocked CPU which means pushing it via the bus speed and that will lower the memory speed as well...

i would sell up and get something slightly better... that cpu is best for an office system

Uugh well a friend of mine says that I won't really get that much for the cpu and even if I sold it as a package I would not get that much.

you wont get much... that cpu is a weak dual core and wont run games tbh

plus the onboard gpu is weak as well.. i would save up and sell when ready and get something along the lines of a 750ti and pentium anniversary

It's a massive pain to clock FM2 chips with locked multipliers.

Basically lots of things are synced to the bclk such as the SATA ports. You have to make sure your disk drives are running in IDE compatibility mode and then you can potentially increase the bclk up to around 130, which would give a 30% OC.

Alternatively, you could buy an unlocked Athlon II 750k as that has twice the cores and an unlocked multiplier. Paired with a dedicated GPU such as an R9 265x it would be a competent gaming PC.

Hm, well thinking about this maybe I'll just to try to sell it as a workstation..

Okay,

I know this thread has been kind of dead for a while but I am switching on the lights again.
Would I get any OC from this setup:

AMD Phenom II X2 555
ASUS M4A87TD/USB3
4GB ram
+ if necessary 60gb ssd
