Well, I've finally got my PC how I wanted it to! It's a total beast (like me!) and I'm happy that I did it myself.

E6600
Arctic cooling freezer 7 Pro
Gigabyte DS3
2Gig geIL 6400
2 Sata-2 HDD's in RAID 0
HIS X1950 pro 256mb
Audigy 2 platinum

Just knocked the FSB of my E6600 up to 350, Fractional O/clock of the HIS X1950 pro from 620 to 635 GPU and 1550 mem. Nothing spectacular I know, but I was a total and utter newbie at building and overclocking PC's before this one. I've learnt a lot along the way.

Now for the thankyou's :D I wouldn't have been able to do ANY of it without Overclockers, thanks for putting up with my neverending questions on these forums. It's a great source of information and everybody is helpful. Specifically thanks goes to Rpstewart, Loadsamoney, Thefishdude, the suspended Cybermav :D Big wayne the x1950 pimp, Gibbo for his help when the HIS came without some of the parts I wanted (sent them out next day in an envelope!!) And everybody else who helped me.

Now I've finished tinkering though, I'm thinking what else I can be doing. It's addictive :D

Yep same here, i just started overclocking my CPU today. Im currentley testing mine at 3Ghz :D. I would love to get another E6300 with a DS3 board and some PC9000 ram and see how far i could take it on air ;). Also nice overclock.. :)

how long did it take for u to finish OC it ? ggs to guys who helped him , i might be next ,who will try to do it ,but only when i will be on hollidays though! :D i remmember how long it took to me to make my current sistem to work ,big thanks to guys who ever helped me !:)

I Love This Forum, you can find here everything you need!!!

The overclocking was child's play, I just followed the guide on the DS3 thread. But I've been building this PC for 2 months now! Have been through:

* 3 motherboards (Dual-Vsta, Only 4x PCI-E) (965G DS3, worked fine but Couldn't overclock this board, it's the one with the integrated graphics) and finally my current 965P DS3.

* 2 sets of RAM (some 5300, which wasn't good to o/clock) and my current geIL 6400 which is great stuff

*3 graphics cards (6600GT AGP, great card, just a bit slow) (Sapphire X1950 pro 256mb, again good card but I wanted...) My current card, HIS X1950 pro, which is a little faster and cooler

*4 (yes really) CPU's (First off a Pentium D 820, which I realised was too slow, then a D 945, Which was good but I wanted a conroe, the onto a 6300, which I sold because I wasn't going to overclock and wanted more power, then I bought a E6600 which I overclocked anyway :p

*2 PSU's (450w and now a 500w)

*4 Hard drives (1 IDE which I bought by mistake, then two SATA 2 HDD's for a RAID 0 array, then one bust so I received another!)

* 4 CPU fan/heatsinks (1 coolermaster jobby, then the e6300 retail, then the e6600 retail, and finally a arctic cooling freezer 7 pro)

* Numerous IDE cables, 6-pin molex issues, 4-pin to SATA connectors

*3 optical drives (bought 2 and one bust)

and finally not forgetting..

* 8 re-installs of XP, causing microsoft to think i'm well dodgy!!!

I just kept buying something then seeing something just that little better, selling up, and buying again. But I'm at the final spec now. And it was all learning!

You mean why did I not keep the E6300 :D because at the time I didn't think I was going to overclock, so the E6600 made sense. I don't regret it though, because I get the full 4mb cache with the 6600 and I got a good price for my 6300.
