Ok, so tomorrow, my brand new E2160 will arrive and i'll have a chance to do actually put my system together. I bought the motherboard, an Asrock 4core-dualVSTA back in march, and my heatsink the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro in April, and like I said above, I bought the E2160 which arrives tomorrow. I will be using pc3200 ram, as well.

I've been reading for quite awhile about overclocking, but have never been too confident about it, but these C2D's seem like they make overclocking easy-peasy. Anyhow, i've learned that my motherboard overclocks like poo, only reaching 285-300Mhz FSB, which is why i opted for a cpu with a 9x multiplier (i was thinking about the e4400 for the 10x multiplier, but it was more dear).

Anyhow, from what I gather, I can get a maximum overclock without raising the vcore; so what i'm thinking is i just up the FSB to 270 or so and go from there. What should I set the RAM speed at so I don't fry it? Is there any other advise I need to know as well? I'm really excited about getting a 1.8Ghz chip to clock at about 2.7Ghz...Will I see a big difference between my new chip and my current p4 Prescott 3.0Ghz?

Cheers for the help, i'm really looking forward to this.

no help at all guys? I'm not looking for someone to hold my hand, but just tell me the first 1 or 2 steps to do...i'll take it from there

Should see an appreciable difference for sure, will be much faster especially when overclocked. Never used that board so don't know the exact settings for the RAM but i'd guess you may have to set the DDR below PC3200 (DDR400) if overclocking as it may not go much over 200MHz once the FSB is going up.
