My first overclock ;D

Well, i've just overclocked for my first time, woo go me

Got a question, i've been upping the FSB by 5 at a time, like I read. And I got to a point were my comp's booting up and the windows loading screen appears for a split second and then the PC restarts.

Do I need more volts? or somthing :rolleyes:

Lowed the FSB by 3 and it works fine.

List all your hardware, what settings you've changed, what temps you're getting etc, etc. Then we can help some more.

Well if you're already at a decent overclock then just stop there

Otherwise, have a look at your temps. And if they allow for it, maybe put your volts up by 0.05 or 0.1... First try upping your FSB and MCH voltage by 0.1v IMO, as if they're the problem then it's better to put more heat on them than your CPU... Also your RAM could need a little more. Make sure you're using a RAM divider if you need it!

Yo guys

My hardware:

AMD 4800 X2
Ballistix RAM PC4000
Pure Inovation Motherboard - I think this is my problem, it's a realy good board :rolleyes:

I got the CPU to 2.6 Ghz, any higher and I can't load windows, I've lowerd my HT link to 800 mhz.

RAM's @ 2.8V I think
CPUz says my CPU voltage is 1.35 :\ I havn't changed the CPU voltage.

I'm not quite sure how to change the RAM divider, do all motherboards let you change this?

Can you tell us what everything is set at i.e. ram timings, fsb, multipier etc? CPUZ will tell you, grab it if you haven't already - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

nice first oc.

up the volts a bit and it will do 2.8ghz easy. higher it to about 1.4v and see what it can do at that

make sure load temps dont go over 60-65 tho

I've changed the voltage to 1.4

But can't go any higher than 220 FSB, just keeps rebooting at the windows screen. Temps are 52 C idle with 1.4V so I wouldn't be able to go much higher anyway hehe.

Need to upgrade my cooling kit before I can go any further

I've got a reserator on my CPU and GPU lol, no fans >.<

I'm going to add in a 120mm rad to help cool them down

Drop the HTT multiplier down to 4 so that the HTT link speed is less than 1000MHz, that might give you the extra stability. Also if you're only using 2 sticks of RAM, change the command rate to '1T' and put the sticks in alternate slots (colour coded usually) to run them in dual channel mode.
