Hey guys,
I have a sapphire X800GTO 256mb and today I had the guts to OC it . :D At stock its 400/490 and I got it up to 530/520!!! I am quite prud of this. I tested for artifdacts using FEAR, playing levels for a bit and seeing if theres anything strange. I played FEAR at 1280*960, all max settingsd, soft shadows off with 2 AA and 8 AF. At stock speeds I got 31fps in the stress test. Now I got 37fps! I really hope these clocks are stable and I may get a new fan to cool it. What do you guys think about this OC ;)

The RAM on these boards is DDR3 1200Mhz, Most people, myself included get clock timings of 530:600 with ease.

Stick the memory up to 600Mhz and see how she goes..

I have the sapphire x800gto as well, although im scared to oc it cos of its temperature. Its about 45 degrees idle but in a game it can get to 85 at normal stock clocks. Im thinking about getting a arctic cooling ati 5 but i dunno if the temperature would decrease allot or if i should just overclock it now

an arctic cooler 5 rev 2 is what your after (off the top of my head, best check that) on my Saphirre GTO...WHAT a difference, silent especially when controlled with ATI tool. and now tops out at 56C instead of 85+C a huge difference.

I'm also sure it will help the card last a little longer as before I felt it was going to burn up!

Hope this helps you. By the way my GTO saphire even with a R480 core won't do more than 549 Core / 520 Memory

nice, I think ill order my arctic cooling soon then cos im getting artifacts at those kinda clocks cos the card is hitting 90 degrees plus. do you know if you have the ati 5 or 4 cos im unsure which will fit better.

Core isn't that important, drop the core to 530 and try whacking the memory upto 600. It's only falling over because of the VPU.

Give it a try..

I thought the core was important???

When I up my Core the fps go through the roof, when i overclock my memory I see little difference....

Also the core is being cooled but the ram isn't.... So take that onboard when you overclock your memory... it could cause your graphics card to die.

However overclocking the core is safe in my opinion.

The ATI 4 is the one you want

isnt the ati 4 just for agp x800s from what i can tell the 5 works on the pci express model (like mine)

Well, wont be doing any OCing anytime soon, I put my clocks back to stock till I get a new cooling solution, because something messed up and now im getting 60 idle  i may buy a artic cooler of a guy if tehir any good or I may remount the fan with some As5
