just endevoured in my first over clock on my socket939 x2 3800+ proccessor
but worried about temperatures i oc'd it to 2.3ghz it'll run 2 instances of prime 95 stable and a constant temp of 63 degrees with the stock amd cooler and fan, and my idle temp is 40c

just need some info on what these cards can be pushed too my mobo/bios only lets me adjust the memory and FSB i can't touch v-core(which is probably a good thing right now) at the moment cpu-ldt (fsb) is set at 230 mhz standard was 200 mhz

i'm a little weary of doing anything else until i know more about these temps.

Different chips have diff max temps most AMD are 60-70max the. your running hot because your runing STD cooler and the board will be overvolting not much you can do about it. IMO running at what you have should be fine for now as daily tasks wont stress as much as prime. Come the summer mind could be a diff story.
why are you running 2 instances of prime?

it was recommended to assign 1 instance of prime to each core on the website i was using for the info it was a specific site for the amd x2's and the test they did was on my 3800+

i could try running 1 prime accross both cores see if i get different temp readings.

gotta bear in mind i'm using a micro atx case and the cpu fan is 7mm away from the PSU which probably don't help

the case i use is this Silverstone Sugo SG01B-F Evolution Aluminium Micro-ATX Case - Black (No PSU) [SG01B-F] (picture from OCUK)

3 fans in total 2 above the pci slots and 1 for the HDD i could take some pics of the case later inside and show u how it is..

I am hoping to get a new build within the next few months so might go ahead and buy the HAF 932 (as far as i'm aware it takes MATX boards) stick all my stuff in there until i have made my mind up and have the funds to buy another system.

I take it when you said you are running 2 instances of Prime95, you actually mean that it is running 2 threads???

You haven't opened the program twice, right?

@BigBruiserAl, isn't Orthos pretty much the same as Prime?

Doesn't it use the same type of testing?

yeah i opened it twice and set each program to be affinity with 1 core of the processor. i'm using the original prime 95.

so i set prime 95 number 1 to core 0 and prime 95 number 2 to core 1
