I am building my first PC, I am mainly going to be using it to encode my Blu-Rays and DVDs and to watch video up to 1080p in quality.

I have most of the parts chosen, (if people think I have gone wrong anywhere please let me know) and just have a few left the Monitor (30" preference), power supply and possibly a graphics card (not sure if this last piece is needed or not considering what I am oing to be using the system for.

I don't play PC games so that is not a factor. These are the parts I have so far.

The Blu-Ray drive should really be a retail version so it includes playback software.

The RAM isnt great, get a 1600Mhz kit, such as - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-336-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

It seems all searches for a retail version of the Blu-Ray Drive produce results for the bare drive.

Thanks for the pointers on the RAM I only used the website I used to get the compatible RAM as they had a special thing where you could put in your motherboard to get the exact compatible RAM but now I know the RAM you suggested is also compatible and a better choice I'll get that instead.

Apologise for resurrecting this thread, but I am in a dilema in reagards the 2 (possibly 3) final components.

I am torn between either a 30" monitor or a 27" monitor, the reason for the dilema is I see that 30" is 16:10 ratio and on reading up on it apparently if you watch video (like movies) the black bars at the bottom and top of the screen increase in size. So I was wandering does anyone have any experience with using these monitors for watching movies and what is there opinion on the situation.

The second component is the power supply but I reckon I need to decide on the monitor first as they can increase the wattage needed to drive them.

The final maybe component is a graphics card as again I have read some monitors require a graphics card to power them.

I would really appreciate some help with these final pieces.
