Hi all, names Aaron I'm new to the forum. I have built a handful of low spec builds for family, nothing major. This will be first gaming rig with a watercooled loop. After weeks of research (and doubling my budget ) I have started to get my parts.

I have;

3770k ivybridge
16gb vengeance 2133 ram
2 x 128gb Samsung ssd
3tb seagate barracuda
Nzxt 810 switch in white
1000w fatal1y psu
Z77 sabertooth MB
Samsung bluray

Pics to follow :-)

Hi, I just wanted an i7 tbh. Im getting 2 evga 670gtx 4gb superclocked next week. I have just ordered my ek CPU and gpu waterblocks from overclockers and they will be here tomoz. I plan on getting 3 monitors in bout 4 weeks aswel. I have seen 3 23inch Samsung 3d monitors for £525.

Thanks for replying

Thanks, like I said I am new to this and it's my first. I have fans for my radiators, fittings, water blocks, reservoir and pump coming tomoz.

I went for a alphacool reservoir with d5 pump.

I have not got my 360 rad yet, as I'm still quite not sure what to get, I'm getting a 240rad for the bottom of the case with 2 fans pushing air threw. I don't know what thickness rad to get for my 360. After pouring threw forums, I'm beginning to believe that anything below 60mm thick is a waster of time. I did originally what to have fans push/pull on my 360 but I don't think a 60mm rad would allow this.

£2500 is about right, also about £600 on 3 monitors. I bought 2 to put in raid yea, I read that it was suppose to be faster, I bloody well hope so anyways haha.

This is my first so I suppose the only way I will learn is to just see how it turns out. If I get no gain then I will know for next time.

Hi, got some new parts delivered yesterday:

Unfortunatly the plastic on my CPU block is broke  I have sent back and hoping i get a new one asap.

I am buying my EVGA gtx 670 cards on saturday. After much advice from members of the community, i am going with 2gb cards instead of 4gb cards. I have had to also order the EK back plates from the EK shop as i cant find them anywhere in stock (had to pay for next day del aswel )

My new red LED fans for my radiator. I have decided to get a EK coolstream 360 60mm thick rad. Dont think i would fit any fans directly on the rad for push/pull. Getting a EK coolstream 240 45mm rad for the bottom of my case.

I will have all my parts saturday morning so will be posting many pics throughout saturday daytime. Cant wait now :D

Going to be an awesome build - must be spending around £2,500 on it?

Out of interest, why did you buy 2 SSDs? I've heard that putting them in RAID offers no benefit as it doesn't support TRIM and offers no noticeable performance gain.

Well..... I have been looking into what you have said and it looks like ive made a booboo. (all part of the learning process i suppose) Looks like its time to sell my ssd's and purchase the 256gb.... Or just use 1 128gb ssd? I do have a 3tb hdd for music, pics, docs, films etc. I do want my OS and programs on the ssd for load times etc. Can't really see me using over 128gb?

Origanally i bought the one and a week later bought the second, thats why i have 2. Was after reading bout the read/write times being faster. Must admit that this "TRIM" not being supported does bother me now.

:D
Good stuff mate! Will be following this closely, my new gear will be similar to yours apart from maybe the case and some other minor details. Look forward to seeing the beast fully formed!

Thanks mate. Will look forward to seeing yours awell if you do a log.

Going getting the rest of my parts tomorrow. Like a kid on Christmas Eve

Looking at similar build myself but i was gonna put fans underneath sucking cold air in, newbie to watercooling and probably nothhing in it, i dont know.
Can you measure the distance in mm between top rad and the metal plate in the drive bay and to the top of the motherboard, i wanna know if a 80mm will fit, this would be of great help to me, thx.

Hi mate, not got a tape measure in me at the mo. but here is a pic of my 60mm, there's probs about 15mm to the top of my MBand about 30mm clearance to the bottom of the optical bay.

If you bear with me I'll get a tape measure tomorrow hopefully

The loop doesn't leak on any of my fittings but....

My reservoir houses to d5 pumps. I have one installed and they previde 2 plastic 1/4 inch plugs for the other in/out ports for second pump. Theses both leak!! Quite dissapointed with that. Can't do anything else to it now until I get some proper plug fittings with an O ring on them. The plugs supplied are so poor. Cheap plastic. Seen some proper nickel ones for bout a £1 each with the O ring. 1 litre was no where near enough fluid aswel. I had to add some distiller water to my mayhem aurora aswell which I suspect has made the "effect" worse. Grrrrrr

Yea, only about 3months. Didn't know that when I bought it tho :(. I've just ordered some mayhems red dye of eBay and picked a bottle of de-ionised water up from asda. Need some silver coil now I think. Will order some from overclockers on Monday.

Now my loop setup is different to most I think. I have gone res, 240rad, CPU, 360 rad, gpu. Gonna see how that does me, I'm not changing it unless temps are bad. I've done it that way because I like the way the tubes are lay out.
