Hello!

Ok, this is still kind of work in progress but it should be done by the weekend. It is currently about 90% done, I just need to plumb in the block and get the baby filled up.

So, to start with, here is the spec. I went with:-

  • Material - 8mm Clear Acrylic Sheets
  • Mounting - Countersunk and tapped
  • Block - XSPC Delta V3 CPU Waterblock (1/2" barbs)
  • Pump - Swiftech Laing D5 Vario MCP655 12V DC Pump
  • Rad - Thermochill PA120.2 120mm Double Radiator + x2 AC Ryan 120mm Fans
  • Res - Swiftech MCRES-Micro Watercooling Resevoir (1/2" barbs)
  • Tubing - 1/2" tubing + Anti-Kink Coils (UV Blue)
  • Fluid - PrimoChill ICE Non-Conductive Coolant + UV Brite Green Dye

I don't have any photo's from when cutting and building it. But myself and dad did it with just a jigsaw and some fancy drill bits. Just need a steady hand. If you go to quick it'll melt the acrylic. lol.

Anyway, here are some quick photo's. I'll get much better one's this weekend. So far, I'm really pleased it all fits together and lines up which is a relief. haha. But this weekend I am fitting the block and filling up the system.

Looks really nice  - is it just going to be the 120.2? Is it going to be all the water cooling bits in there bar the tubes coming out for the cpu block?

Hi mate.

Yeah just the 120.2. I'm only cooling my CPU. :) So everything in there apart from the block and the tubes coming out from it.

Here's 2 quick photo's showing it in it's final place when it's finished....

see i hate threads like this, simply because i love how they look and then my wallet starts jumpimg out of my pocket!

Your now officially on the list Firegod, joint W33bo and johnnylaris :)

joking aside tho it looks awesome

Hehe thanks guys. :D

Like I say, we spent our time doing it and spread it over a month or two. So a weekend here, a weekend there, etc. No rush. Just do it when I have the time and cash. :) Obviously as it nears the end you start to want to get it all done then and there. lol.

Nice work. Made a similar one myself awhile back after I tooled my workshop for acrylics.

Dare I say... you were my inspiration! lol is that too cheesy?! :D haha. I saw your's and thought that it was class.

may i ask where you got the acrylic and how much it cost?

You can indeed! It was from fleabay. And cost ~£40 in total. The acrylic isn't that much depending on thickness and size of sheets. The P&P was like £8-£10 as it's heavy. So that adds to the cost.

nice work

is it nice and quiet?

you made it very large... - room for future upgrades?

It doesn't seem too loud at all. I've only quickly tested the fans to make sure they work. I haven't had the full system on yet. (This weekend hopefully). But dimension wise, I made it quite thin and tall to fit in the space I had. It's not small as I wanted room to work and also room between the components. There is still some tubing to be fitted, so hopefully it'll be just right when complete. I'd rather have a little excess than be cramped.

Thanks again everyone!! More to follow.

Hey. A bit later than promised, but here are the final pics. I waited a bit before taking these as I required more dye for the fluid. It looks better now.

Thanks!

i like. Does it matter what type of acrylic your using? Pics look good chap Looks really well made.

Thanks again. :D

Nah, I just literally went into ebay and searched for "clear acrylic perspex". I went with 8mm though so as to give the case some ridigity.

Plus, when tapping and screwing together, 8mm worked out well with regards to how the head of the screws lined up with the lip of the acrylic. If it were thinner thickness I doubt I could have tapped, screwed and countersunk it as it would have probably cracked.

I just picked a decent size dimension sheet and cut to my layout as well. :)

Looking good. All you need now is the Hooks on the out side of the case to hang it out your window in the winter and you have a super cooler :) (This has been done back in the day of using old car heat cores as rads)

Well it looks really nice mate and its given me inspiration to make one myself. May i ask what you used to cut the sheets up? jigsaw and what blade?
