That is not a good idea. You should secure erase if reinstalling Windows - this will bring the drive back to maximum performance levels.
Could someone please guide me on how to update the Firmware on the OCZ Vertex2E?
Ive been trying to determin this via this link but im so confused!

Do i need to boot off my installation disk to do this and can it be done after Windows is installed?
What about intel RST drivers, do i need these as well?
Thanks
Ive installed several SSDs now and have done nothing different to a normal install and have had no issues and get expected speeds. Defrag is turned off in W7 by default if its an SSD, and for me pagefile etc can stay on the SSD as I only ever 40-50% fill it anyway.

Helpful post for Steam and SSDs I found elsewhere
Visualising your availalbe space can help you track down what/where is using lots of space:-

That steam post looks useful but it's missing images, got a link to the original thread?
That looks good, I've been using Disk Space Fan to visualise my SSD and find out where all the space is going and then free it up, it's absolutely brilliant.
I cant link to the original thread, but Ive updated my post with the missing bits.

Oh and +1 for a steam update, this seems a really stupid option at the moment and would probably be pretty easy for them to implement.More and more and more of these threads are starting to appear about STEAM only being able to selectively install your games to whichever partition the client is installed. They need release an updated client to solve this issue, like myself i would designate my favourite games to my SSD and games that i play on and off to my hard disk drive.
Totally love my SSD id never go back
