www.upleft.co.uk

I don't know why I have it but I just bunged up a premilinary site earlier on today, this is filling the void at the moment. Do you have any comments on it, even thought it is only small, how would you like to see it improved?

Oh, and how would I be able to have a larger page width on another link, would I have to use a separate css stylesheet for this? Tell me what to do!

Thanks. :)

I like the design/layout a lot, only flaw i see is that i have to scroll down on the page, but its only like one or two clicks so it seems pointless, maby try and shorten the length a small amount and then it would be great.

Im on 1024/768 and firefox

Looks great for your first website :)

I'd suggest taking away the gradient used for "upleft.co.uk", and possibly changing the font to Arial Narrow

I'm on a mac using Safari and it looks perfect, keep up the good work :)

Thanks, well by first website, I mean the first that has actually been put on the web, it's probably about the 10th design I've done for different things. I'll have a look at it without the gradient too, thanks for the mac input - I was going to ask whether it looked alright.

I have a 17" tft so the 1024pixel height obviously is an advantage to me, so I think I might make the home a bit shorter, as currently if any 800x600's were to view the site all they would actually see would be the header lol. :p :)

yep looks good I like it, background works well when i shrink page down so thumbs up from me.

I'd agree with removing the gradient just dosn't feel right, as for the font, I'm going through a phase of using "Lucida" at the moment in lowercase, it looks quite cool I think.

I've just updated the header, and made it a bit smaller, I like the lucida look from a mac so I'll have a play in photoshop but I think I like the header as it is currently. Any more Comments & Critique please?

and back to a question: for another page I have can I change the width of the page in the css to just affect one page somehow? :)

Looks a lot better now :) , yeah Lucida is a lot better ... on my work pc I can't get any Lucida fonts for some reason so I just presumed they weren't included on Windows, the best alternative is Arial Narrow which I'm using for a design I'm doing at the moment which still looks pretty good.

Again Nice Website

as i've said to someone else on this forum, if you created that with no problems at all, you should really get in to the web design business, its clean, extremely simple to navigate and does the job.

There is a lot of raw design talent on these forums, with some development people here could make a lot of money from there talents :)

Hi thanks for that, and I do intend to develop a few sites in the future, one being my dad's company which I should be getting around £280 for 2 websites redesigning for them, the only problem is that their IT guy loves dreamweaver and if they want to update it I think it might have to be left in my hands to change the html and things as I don't have a grip on things like php or cms at the moment. :)

hi sorry to bump this back up but is the photo gallery working for people on here? http://www.upleft.co.uk/ :)

does the site look alright at all different resolutions? thanks. :)

Yeah, working perfectly for me in IE on Windows at 1024x768 ( at work  ), will let you know how it looks on a mac when I get home :) ... if nobody else has before then.

nice design... particularly the colours used, rather plain though in my opinion, i just don't see anythign really special about it, needs something more... i feel the photo gallery needs something to make people click the photos.. right now they just seem to be listed next to each other.. sorry if this sounds vague, but i do like the logo and your clean and clear approach to the website. Good work! ;)

learning xhtml and css at the moment myself, tutorials seem to be the best bet, but a lot of them say completely different things and ways of making websites.
Not seen the way that you made one before, works nicely though.
I'll upload my first one sometime soon just to see peoples reactions, although it might be plain!

Are you after a critique for those two pages under the upleft.co.uk domain, or the threedreams site?

Say whatever you like about any of it :).

you've changed the background and it dosn't format correctly now.
Yeh I noticed that, I only applied the background to the 'body, html' but it seems to re-do it self for the content div which I don't understand, I need to find a way to alter this!

any ideas? :)

Try setting the width of the content to a fixed size that ought to clear it.
