my friend

1 second in and first of all he cant seem to spell his name correctly at the bottom of his homepage.... very pro

i didnt see that but thanks.

there is bound to be a few mistakes as he is new but i have mailed him and let him know about the mistake.

and as for being pro....he is new so give the guy a break.

my two comments..

(only picking on the negative things as these are the things that need improving)

1) there is not enough photos in the gallery, even if he is new he should have more pics to put in his gallery

2) the price is too cheap, and imo , undermines the value of his work, even if he is new

to go to someones house, to put up all the equipment, to spend an hour shooting, to go back and i assume edit the photos, to get a print done and then delivery back the CD all for £ 35 is just too cheap.

thanks for the comments paul.

i will speak to him and tell him some of your view's and see what he say's.

i know he is new but need's people's comments who have done this kind of work to progress further into his career.

thanks for your time paul and your honest opinions.

The website doesn't work for me. It isn't very contemporary and infact looks quite dated.

On reflection, I think if I was in his shoes I'd have commissioned something more stylish and then crucially waited until I had more of a portfolio to show. There's nothing on there that would make me want to use him.

Edit - does anyone really commission landscapes?

This was the first thing that jumped out at me, it looks so old fashioned, also the giant fonts dont work for me.

Also agree that more photos are needed in the gallery.

On the whole the site works and reads well. just needs more content and a push into the future/present.

I agree with he above posts really.

If I went to his web page I wouldn't hire him He does need a much bigger portfolio and I agree that if he is going Pro then he should pay a Pro to make a professional website. I don't have experience selling through a website myself but I do know it is very hard to become successful.

Some points:
I think the URL is too long for most people.
The web pages have a lot of clutter, a lot of text, with different font sizes.

This is who my sister is using this summer:
http://www.jackphoto.co.uk/

Not sure its the best website but there are many things I like about it. Simple, clean, large portfolios, you can see the whoel wedding shoot of lots of weddings.

The site is very dated looking and also the fonts sizes are to varying across each page, Large font for titles and a standard font size for everything else would work much better.

Overall it needs simplifying and cleaning up.

"My Values ... Your Assurance". *vomits* Sounds like something from a time-share, if I'm frank.

It's a fair start, and websites sure as hell aren't easy to nail, but I can't say I like that much at all.

The blending in the banner and its general appearance doesn't look professional. The text needs standardising throughout in terms of font and size.

He should also perhaps look at getting it to validate properly (here) and check browser compatibility.

As a side note, his re-touching skills leave perhaps a little bit to be desired. I wouldn't necessarily advertise them.

ill pass these comments on and show him these post's and see what he says.

many thanks for your time in this as coming to this thread with people who deal in this kind of business on a everyday business.
