Ok so in the last few months ive had 3 cards and benched them all and here are my results. May be useful for anyone wondering what to go for between a 660 and a 7950. The Nvidia cards used driver 310.70 and the 7950 used 13.1. The cards were :

EVGA GTX680 Superclocked Signature 2Gb
MSI GTX660 Twin Frozr 3 2Gb
Gigabyte HD7950 WF3 3Gb

I have posted full results in the official benchmark thread, but here are the average FPS results comparing the 3 cards. All the cards were run at ther out of the box settings and I didn't overclock them myself. Ignore the fact it says 660 in the descriptions as I forgot to change it :D

Hope these help people decide which card to get.

I love Haven and the troubles but can't find the game anywhere :p

Sorry Meatloaf, only teasing and well done on the graphs. The 7950 does well compared to the very expensive 680.

How did you find the switch over?

Really easy, just a case of uninstalling the NVidia drivers, swapping the cards over and installing the amd drivers.

For a card that's £50 cheaper than a 670 and £120 cheaper than the 680 it performs very very nicely. It was also a nice surprise to get the game bundle as well as I thought the offer had ended.

Great result and glad you had no issues switching over. I have read a few horror threads.

We have almost the same spec PC, and I just bought one of those 7950s this morning, so those benches make for good reading.

Top one!

I'd love to see an overclocked benchmark with the 7950 if you could.
Something like 1100-1150 on the core is something most, if not all cards can achieve.

I imagine it would be 15-20% faster. GPU clock speed increases proportionally with performance in my experience. That said a 680 will easily overclock 10% more but maybe not 20%, so you may see a relative 7950 10% gain when they are both overclocked. At 50fps that is only a 5fps increasse btw.

I find it ironic that the Nvidia card run Farcry 3 so well, when the 7950's come bundled with it. You think there would be a performance tie in comparible to the commercial tie in.

Considering the 7950 costs over £100 less than the 680 I think it still performs really well. 7970 would probably be close.

FarCry 3 still needs Driver optimisation for AMD.

It will probably get it in 13.2/3

Nice review MeatLoaf :)

PS, did you have Physx enabled in BoarderLands 2?

Awesome thread, I've being in two minds whether to go for a 7950 or 7970 for ages, for the sheer value to performance ratio I may just have to pick up a 7950.
