well the thread title is not strictly true. the card (in my sig) works fine in xp - that's if it boots into it. 9 times out of 10 it will hang on the xp progress bar screen though.
the problem with xp only occurs once i've installed the catalyst drivers. i've tried reseating the card, removing other hardware, resetting my mobo bios, all sorts of catalyst/omega drivers, re-installing windows (even tried win2000 and it freezes at exactly the same place
). i was thinking perhaps my psu isn't upto it, but on the odd occasion it will successfully boot, games etc work absolutely fine.... i've tried looking in the windows event viewer and enabling boot logging and i get nothing. 
as a last resort i've installed vista beta 2 (with the beta catalysts from ati) as my main os and everything works perfectly.... wtf
