She only ever surfs the web, plays with photos (not editing them) and plays a bit of music. She wants a device that she can just use on the Sofa. She want's a 'proper keyboard' and would like a touch screen.

Other than the touch screen, I thought the due to be released HP Chromebook 14 would have been ideal for her and at £250 a reasonally cheap option.

Any recommendations?

How about either the old Surface RT or the new Surface 2 with the keyboard cover?
Would cover the requirements quite well.

Admittedly i have not used a Chromebook but just not convinced about the whole idea of having to store everything in the cloud and needing to be connected to use anything too.

I'm not so sure she will get on with the floppy keyboard or it not having a proper keyboard feel. Also she wants at least 1 13" screen.

I think you can use a local or NAS drive with a chromebook. I don't think you actually have to be connected to the internet anyway but she always is so it won't really make much difference to her though. (although the chromebooks don't have touchscreens - except the pixcel)

Maybe we should just go for a nice light 13" or 14" touchscreen laptop. The Samsung book 9 lite looks ideal but reviews haven't been great
