My GPU doesn't take the strain playing back Flash

hi all,

I have a Windows 7 x64 running with my ATI HD 4500 512MB graphics card inside my Dell laptop and although I can play back HD files in Flash, my CPU is working close to 100%, which makes me believe my GPU isn't taking the onus.

When playing standard MKV files etc offline through Media Player Classic, the CPU is pretty much idle, just Flash is the problem.

I have tried

- updating to the latest version of Flash
- making sure the checkbox is checked on Flash's settings for Enable Hardware Acceleration
- updating to the latest ATI drivers

Can anyone advise please?

I think you need a special beta version of flash or you need to do something to enable it, I'll try have a look.

EDIT:

I'm pretty sure you need them for ati stream acceleration, the last stable release was in February which I assume was before adding ati stream acceleration, I think I've already tried it tbh and IMO nothing changed in fact if I remember correctly the image quality was worse as it relies on the settings within the catalyst control center which aren't as good as the standard flash. Take that with a grain of salt however as I can't remember 100%.

thanks for the responses. Just installed, rebooted then tried the non-IE plugin with Firefox, then did the same with the IE plugin with IE, no joy. Any more ideas?
