Yes, it's a Volvo, yes I'm 21, I know it's at least little strange to own a car like this but it fits my needs very well (space for 5 people, massive boot, decent power). Sorry for the not so amazing pictures, camera phone wonderment. Also some absolute ******** (illegitimate male child, possibly plural) clearly thought there was a little too much paint on the car and removed some with two key marks up each passenger side door, anyone got a) an educated guess at a possible repair cost and b) any recommended places in my local area (oldham/manchester) to take it to?

Can't comment on the scratches but that's an ace car, especially for someone of your age. Well done for thinking out of the box.

Good car, what spec is it and what engine?

Thanks, its a 1.8 Sport as per my sig, everything is standard, I'm not one for changing things that much if ever really, it has the comfiest seats in existence which are part leather, AC, electric all round windows, PAS, ABS, all the usual comforts you'd expect really.

Thanks, I do like my big barges, if I was to change again I'd probably get something of a very similar nature just with a bit more punch but I think limiting myself to less than 2L for a while is a good bet in terms of insurance and for myself. Dont want to end up like those youtube videos of young adults smashing into walls because they dont know the power of their own car lol. Admittedly they're usually idiots though.

Must be some pretty cool grandads around where you live ;)

Lovely motor :)

Haha, well, I mean the more standard S40, you see plenty of OAP's in those in the Manchester area that for sure, I don't think I've actually seen anyone else with a Sport yet, it doesn't half make them look 100x better having the little extra's stuck on.

Awesome car, as for the scratches a quick blow over by a body shop will set you back £100-200 to get rid of them.

Thanks muchly and cheers for the guestimate :) I think the CC will be getting a bashing in the next month or so, is there anything I should put on the scratches in the meantime to protect them?

If they have gone through to the metal then may be worth you getting a touch up pen from your motor fab. Or you can use some nail varnish as laquer (nice and easy to apply but not hard wearing). At this time of year if you get the work done in a few weeks probably not worth it.

Ah right cheers, yeh I'll be getting it done within a few weeks, gonna drop it off before i go on holiday lol. Be great if someone from the area could recommend anywhere though, I'd hate to go get a shoddy job done somewhere :(

would be nicer in black i went to drive this the other week http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/ww...ry=cars&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=200815307611225 shame it didn't drive as good as it looks :(

I looked at one of those in silver for the same price as the S40 but it was a shed, broken electronics they said they 'might' fix and wanted me to test drive it on my own (practically throwing the keys at me) with a completely flat rear passenger tire! "oh it'll be fine" the guy said, needless to say I just left right away.

this one i drove didn't idel properly and the engine light was on he also said it'll be reet lol

Oh and the service light was on "because its just been serviced", you couldn't make half of the things up that some dealers say

s40's all seem to have poor traction, very easy to spin the front wheels. Although i had similar needs to you and the s80 seemed to fit them that much better (more power, more room more comfort)

Yeh the traction isn't amazing but aslong as I dont boot it when it doesn't need to be its fine, its 100x better than my previous two cars though (punto and corsa respectively). And the s80 = more cost :)

Thats probably down to poor tyres TBH. They are not really any different from any FWD car. My T4 would spins the wheels up but you needed to be taking the **** with it to do it.
