My graphics card came with a vga>dvi block..

Should I use it? My monitor is vga, will I gain any benefit using the converter?

Will it harm my image at all if i do?

Try it and find out first hand...but in all likelihood another link in the chain will only increase signal loss. I'd use the dedicated VGA out.

No you won't gain any quality increase, as it's still an analogue signal - just going through a digital door, if you will. Hmm, what a poor analogy

wont help at all, still ultimately converting the signal between digital and analogue. no point really.

It's just the analogue part of the DVI-I signal. Use the dedicated VGA port if you have one.

There's no conversion taking place in the block, it's simply connecting the analogue line out of the the cards DVI connector to a 15 pin VGA connector.
