OK first of all I'm new here so go easy on me. I have an odd problem that im really no closer to solving then the other people out on the Internet are and I'm wondering if you guys can shed some light on the issues.

Its a long story involving RMA's and a rival company (scan, whome after this i will never deal with again)

I have recently bought new parts for a build that are listed below:

Asus Striker II Formula NF780i 3xSLi 775 PCI-E 2.0 DDR2 667/800/1066Mhz, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX

4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500(1066)

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8600 @ 3.33GHz

320G WD SATA2 HDD WD3200AAKS

XFX 1024MB GT280 602Mhz

And as you can guess from the thread title I have suffered with the plaguing buzzing noise when running games or apps at high frames per second (with vsync or sync every frame disabled) this is 100% coming from my PSU's. So far I have tried 2 different PSU's listed below:

Tagan Pipe rock 700w (the flashy modular one) Which suffered with the exact same issue as this chap:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uZkwNXoeOeY

After talking to scans RMA department they suggested that i send the PSU back for testing and in the mean time replace it with a different model. So i did as was suggested and purchased a cooler master M850 Modular PSU.

and guess what? This one also buzzes/squeals but not nearly as loud as the tagan did.

I then receive an email from scan saying that they have found no issues with the PSU that i originally RMA'd and they are going to charge me for collection of the unit as no fault was found. The technicians details on the tests are listed here:

Got a Gtx280 attached and Crysis running full settings. Can't hear anything.

not only a smug responce but the boob run the wrong tests on the card.

this REALLY annoyed me as i explained when RMAing the PSU that the fault only occured when running games or apps with HIGH frames per second. and vsync or sync every frame is disabled (as this caps frames per second to 75 max) And lets face it even the gtx 280 wont get above 200 frames per second in crysis on max settings now will it?

I called them up (rather annoyed by this point) and explained that the tests they ran will not produce the fault and that they must do as i say to get the unit to fault. They chap on tech help said that it seems odd that both PSU's buzz and that maybe the card could be at fault and to RMA that too.

Can ANYONE shed any light on this matter and possibly help me out here? The buzzing also interferes with my front panel audio in my case (antec 900) and im sure its the PSU causing that too. Is that possible?

HEEEEEELP this is doing my head in :(

My PSU buzzes also. My 2 week old PC buzzes under high load, I first noticed it on the Vista experience test.

Specs:

Core i7 920
280GTX
CoolerMaster 650W Modular PSU.

Everything is stable, just it buzzes.

My Piperock 900w causes my GTX 260 to buzz - as did another 600w tagan i tried.

Couldn't identify if the PSU buzzed but the GPU certainly does when doing crazy FPS. The menu in STALKER and ATiTool's furry cube are the worst offenders.

Ask them to try that (especially the STALKER menu) as that should hopefully cause it to buzz.

Personally, i just get through the menus and into the game. At norma FPS there is no issue.

Hope you get it sorted. :)

Yeah i have written an letter and included it in my RMA for the gfx card. telling them exactaly what to run including the ati artifact tool (fuzzzy cube) and maxing out frames in cod4)

If they turn around and put "tried your gtx on crysis with the tagan no noise heard" im going to walk to scans tech department and kick him squaare in the nuts! (southpark reference!!)

You should try maxing you frames in cod to see if you get the same issue ( /com_maxfps 999 in console) its the most annoying thing ever stupid PSU/GFX card buzzing.
