My HDD is going I think!

Basically it has now just randomly (it comes and goes) started sounds as if the reader thing in it is scraping against the platters as I have done this before to old hard drives with a screwdriver!! Do you think it anythin to worry about?

To answer your question directly, yes.
It is something to worry about.
I'd suggest you backup all your data asap.
Then you have two choices, replace it now, or wait for it to fail and replace it then.
Just make sure your data is kept up to date and backed up.
