It just looks like two bit of wood screwed together to me, with a screw in the side of the bottom one. I dont see the illusion at all.

Theres no photoshop. If you can't see it, something is wrong with your inferior brain.

Two bits of wood, one on top of the other, the top one is shorter at both ends (as in, it doesn't overhang the lower bit of wood), although the illusion makes it look like its next to the other piece, rather than on top

actually u are wrong there, notice the shadow at the far end appears to run through the other piece it's been made to look like that using tools it is 2 pieces of wood yes but not simply on top of one another like you think

Follow the grain. Follow the sides of each piece of wood from end to end with your eye. You'll see the side of the top piece is actually the top of the bottom piece. But since they're screwed together like they are, it isn't possible.

It is a good illusion.
