They obviously changed the password and secret question.

Is there any way of convincing hotmail that its my account? Cant they check that i've been logging in with the same IP for years? the hacker is most likely from another country. There must be some way to retrieve my account. I've got sensitive information there as in: casino accounts, orders placed etc.

:(

I managed to convince them

Had it changed within the week!

Took a huge email saying that I could provide them with any data/answer to questions they throw at me.

I answered a few questions and then I was back on track!

Your going to have to email them and hope that they believe you...I suppose you could describe items that would be in your account etc.

In the mean time try and log into your e.g. casino account and change the details so that this person can't mess around with more than your hotmail account.

Sort out your account info first (i.e your other valuable data in the email account) then get across to hotmail customer services.

I would say your up the creek without a paddle

the accounts free, there is little or no customer support, they have no way of identifying you

create a new account and make sure you use stronger passwords in the future.

Can you tell me more information as to how you manged to convince them?
what did they ask you? I dont remember exactly whats in there though i do remember some emails. I can tell to one of my casinos to mail to that account my personal info. Then i can mail to hotmail my passport showing the info which proves that am the holder of the account otherwise why would the casino have that email on file?

Right... despite the fact that Hotmail allow you to reclaim your account by providing them with details that identify you as the account holder?

I completely forgot my password before and had stupidly set my secret question and answer as something even I couldn't remember. However after emailing them back with answers to several other questions, they reset the password for me.

I only wish the same will happen to me. Do they reply fast?

Within the space of a day IIRC.

Don't bother with them until you've secured any other accounts affiliated to your hotmail inbox. Unlink anything that points to your hotmail address until you get it back. That way the hacker can't do a password request for more of your things.

I was online till 4am yesterday and all was ok. Today at 1pm i couldn't access it. My password was 8 digits long so definetely not an easy password. My secret question is my mothers birthplace. I tried to enter some possibly answers but nothing.

There's a decent chance they've changed your secret answer. It's certainly one of the first things I would do if I wanted to keep hold of someone's hotmail account.

Their screen will tell them that someone changed the password and secret question. If this coincides with someone else emailing them and claiming their account has been hijacked, then they have an incentive to offer support and try and prove your identity.

I could tell to one of my casinos to mail that account, verifying that the email address in question is the one registered with them and also they can provide my personal info. Then i can email hotmail with a copy of my passport which proves that am the account holder of the casino and therefore of the hotmail account.

So far i only managed to block the account with many unsuccessful tries so the hacker wont be able to log in either.

Got the following email from hotmail:

They replied within 24h. I doubt they are going to go through every question. My guess is they will mainly check the IP activity.
