My iPhone 4S said 4G ??

Admitedly I am in the USA, but even so, but looking at my phone it said 4G ??

Anyone know why that could be ? I did run an O/S update earlier today.

So anyway, i downloaded & installed speedtest and d/l is 4.53mbps and u/l is .26mbps

unfortunately, I didnt have it before when it was on 3G so who knows what the speeds were.

4g on the iphone 4s isn't true 4g apparently unlike the 4g LTE on the ipad 3th gen.

I know its HSPA+

But I reckon we're going to see consumer confusion soon.. 4G LTE is the quickest varient of 4G, however to some it reads 4G Lite ! as in not full blown... Whereas HSPA+ is a slower version of 4G...

How confusing for the non tech buyers.

Blame the the American network operators.

4G's original technical definition was 100Mbps whilst moving and a fully IP-based network. The first technology that will conform to that definition is LTE Advanced.

However, then all of the networks in America started calling anything over about 20Mbps 4G - WiMAX, LTE and then finally HSPA+. It's all marketing bs.
