Hiya Guys,

All is wrong with my iphone at the moment. I had it in my stereo dock last night listening to music, when all of a sudden it stopped.

When I got out of bed to check, it had a picture of the docking cable with an arrow to iTunes.

I switched it off, went bed and then without checking took it to work. Same display all day, and when I now connect to iTunes to restore it freezes iTunes.

One thing iTunes does do is display a message to tell me the iPhone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored in order to use again, but it has the constant beach ball icon and won't let me click OK.

Couple of tries and still the same?

Any suggestions,

Thanks.

Have you tried resetting it, hold down home and sleep button for 8 seconds, then see if it works.

Failing that, turn it off if you can and hold down the home button and plug it into your computer then restore it.

Is it a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone?

Tried both mate, restart & hard restart....

Just cannot shift the picture from my iphone screen, or click OK in iTunes to restore it.

Obv. iTunes is detecting its in Recovery Mode, but that itself is cause the program to freeze?

Weird.

my mates did this leave it to go flat ( i no it will take ages ) then plug in to itunes it will start to recharge then u can recover it. might work for u it did for him. :)

Hmmmm

Just leaving it on with that image, it soon switches itself off...Dunno how I'd manage to run it down?

I'm gonna try and pop to the Trafford Centre, with the box just in case, and let them try to restore it using their machines?

Might pre-book the Genius Bar for Friday

As long as it's not been Jailbroken or unlocked then they will replace it for you if it's faulty or just fix it there and then.

Worth a shot, but have you tried an older version of iTunes?

You could download iTunes 7.4.2 and the 1.1.1 firmware and downgrade to that.. when it downgrades just go grab an iTunes update and update the iPhone accordingly :)

Sort of like a "Fake jailbreak" only without jailbreaking.. just downgrading.

^ Would probably be a lot easier to take it in, I doubt Apple would bother trying that, more likely replace it with a shiny new one :)

Replace there and then :) Good luck fella

Justin this thread is making me not want to go get one tomorrow haha :p - Temptation is slowly wearing away ;)

*Still plans for tomorrow*

BEST PHONE EVA

I don't think its broke, just maybe a small bug with iTunes and the iPhone.

I believe if they try on another machine in their store it'll work.

Defiantly a great buy, and no way should this change your mind!

Hey guys,

Just to say they replaced it for me, I couldn't go wasnt feelin great so my mom went.

She told them what had happened etc, but in a nutshell he (Genius Bar) said first it was some software that I must have loaded THEN said it is/was a glitch?

I hadn't told mom to say that it was 100% standard, unless he just assumed I'd jailbroke it etc?

Regardless, it has been replaced and now I am HAPPY!
