My kids pc broke and many ways and i want to ask what would be the Equivalent spec if i bought a laptop based on a low budget and who cant afford a top range gaming laptop, if its close to the spec of the old pc then it will be fine and play the games needed which was quite a lot with the 580.

thanks very much for any help and sorry if i missed anything...

i5 4690k , Motherboard Z97P-D3
16gb DDr3 ,
EVGA 600 W1, 80+ WHITE 600W, Power Supply
PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8192MB GDDR5

Current gen 3050ti laptop gpu should be around about the same performance as the rx580. And pretty much any current laptop cpu should at least be able to match the old i5.

With the state of the market right now you'll still be paying through the nose no matter what :(

I'd be tempted to try salvage what you can from the old pc. So long as the gpu works you could replace the rest for less than a laptop would cost

Could easily source equivalent or same parts secondhand on the cheap (might even be worth checking your local gumtree), you'd just have to work out which offending part or parts need changing. If it's simply not turning on or getting power that could be as simple as swapping in a new PSU. 4th gen intel bundles sell pretty cheap on that popular secondhand market i can't mention the name of, often just cpu/mobo bundles (sometimes with mem to), but i'd not expect both your existing memory modules to have snuffed it.

Some more details about how it's broke might help, as it could be extremely cheap to just fix the existing one instead of paying out more needlessly.

Try and find which part is causing the issue and so long as it's not the GPU then it should be cheap to replace then you could always spend £300-400 on a new CPU + MB + Ram and an NVME to give the PC a make over and bring it into the modern age.
