Basically, I have a laptop, that connects to my network wirelessly, but I have a docking station for it, attached to the network by cable.

How can I make the laptop use the cable when docked, wireless when un-docked, without having to run the Network Setup Wizard each time?

IT'S DRIVING ME BARMY!!!!!

well it should do it, if your wifi is set to connect automaticly it should be fine. the computer should just see it is a seperate network adaptor and not be fussed about *** its connecting too

may want to look into hardware profiles. you could create a profile for the docking station that disables thw wireless and only uses the lan connection, and another profile for when its out of the docking station to disable the lan and only use wireless.

What model of laptop is it? The reason i ask is, Dell and Toshiba's has network software which disabled say the LAN when it picks up a wireless connection, and if plug it back into the LAN it when then disable the wireless for you. It should do this without you having to do a thing.

It's a Dell Latitide X300....

There's also an order in the network properties which selects wireless over lan,

Network Connections | advanced |advanced settings

If the profile does not work swap the order around, only if the lan is unplugged it will then use wireless, but this does not disable the wireless adaptor thou as in the other solutions.

There also a reg key hack that stops those cable disconnected / no wireless in range messages, if you need it I'll try and find it for you. :)
