My laptop fan is starting to croak a bit, best stuff to put on it to get smooth again

*if* it isnt a sealed unit (so so many are these days)

1) remove fan from whatever it is screwed to.
2) flip it over and take off the sticker on the back
3) remove rubber bung if it has one to reveal the metal spindle
4) Ensure no build up of gunk (shouldnt be if its sealed)
5) I personally use a light all in one oil such as 3-in-1. However the absolute ideal im told is graphite oil as it is a light lubricant that doesnt evaporate as easily. Either way dont use something like WD40 or thick grease as both are the wrong consistency to really penerate down into the spindle.
6) Brim the hole with the spindle in it, carefully spin the blades in the correct direction for a minute or so then using a piece of tissue, soak up any excess in the hole.
7) Replace bung and sticker
8) Replace fan etc
