My LG Disk Drive not working

hey i bought this package deal
"Titan Nero" AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7850+ Black Edition 2.80GHz DDR2 System
and the LG disk drive doesnt recognise disks not even DVDs or Games. It will recognise them when the PC first powers up but when its been on a little while it doesnt recognise them at all.
Any ideas whats wrong with it.
I only bought it 1 week ago.
What can i do?

unistall the drivers in properties and restart your PC

when i right click on the drive and then click properties and then go to hardware it has two things listed disk drive and dvd/cd-rom drive do i unistall the drivers from the dvd/cd rom drive (i know it sounds stupid but im new to all this) and what if it screws it up when i do it?

Its working but it always works when it first starts up, its just when its left a while that it doesnt :S

If this doesnt solve the problem could it be a dud CD Drive?
