My Lian-Li PC-7 arrived today. It came with two 120mm blue-led fans and an 80mm blow hole at the top :)

The case was supposed to arrive today but when I went down to reception (I live in student accommodation) the office was closed with a note saying "Closed due to illness." I was a bit annoyed, checked the citylink status who said it was delivered, I went back down and the office was open - go figure.

Anyway, this is what the case looked like fresh out of the box :p

Just after the mobo going in:

After everything was put together:

I also bought an ultra quiet 80mm akasa amber fan to go at the top which I've got blowing air out of the case.

The temperatures of my case have dropped to:

Mobo: 31oC (88oF)
CPU: 32oC (90oF)
WDC: 26oC (79oF)

which has made my flatmate jealous :D

The case is very quiet all apart some whining coming off my harddrive which doesn't want to go away. :(

Other than that I'm very impressed with the case!

Just plugged straight into the molex's atm. I'm assuming it's 12v if that's the case. Noise isn't too bad, it's at least half the noise of my old case which was driving me mad! :p

I had a blue-led akasa fan squeeling away in my old case.

Oh, almost forgot; a photo of the front:

:D

I'm considering getting some flush bezels in the near future.

Thing is, does the silver one look good with black drives, i.e. black floppy and black optical drive? See, have an old Cooler Master Centurion which is silver with some black drives, I think it looks good and thats not just my own opinion ...

It probably would look okay, because the silver PC-7 has a black strip along the top of the front. The only problem is that a major selling point of the case is that it looks flush and can be made very simplistic by buying additional bezels. If you had black it wouldn't look quite right (just my opinion), but you can always buy silver bezels to go over the top if you needed...

Lovely case. Shockingly, shockingly messy build :p

I'll play around with the ribbon and cables in time ;)

It doesnt look that big though. I want a 70 instead of the 7 but the price tag is just amazingly high! Is there a lot of room between the PSU and the CD Rom.

I have a Antec Lanboy with a hiper 580w PSU and i cant fit my cd rom in properly because of the hiper.

Not too much, there's enough room to fiddle about but pretty much no room to hide away the cables. I resorted to tucking some cables in the spare optical trays which I'm planning on filling with a soundcard and fan controller in time. It is possible to hide a few cables down the side, and also to tape a few to the top or just outside the PSU. The PSU also slides out backwards so if you need room, it's easily moved. You have about 30cm I'd say between the PSU and ROMs and there is a blowhole above there for a fan so it might be a bit cramped. The case is big enough though, kinda tricky to keep tidy :p

I'll take a picture of the space in a bit and upload here for you :)

Tut not much room

*posts pic of smaller case with better cable management*

Keep in mind theres 4 case fans and a CCFL in there too :p

Although it doesnt matter too much with the PC7, no window.

I'll get some ties and stuff when I got some pennies again ;)

Where are all your cables?

Its magic...erm mostly above the DVD drive and behind the HD mounts.

Cant see the cable for the side case fan as I have used black cable wrap, same goes for the front audio/USB.

Where are your ribbons?

Heh, I just realised - there's 4 unite buildings:

1) Discovery Heights - Opp Babbage
2) Central Point - Where I live - Opp Dingles / Guild Hall
3) St Thomas Court - Uni managed on Exeter St
4) Alexandra Works - Up on North Hill somewhere, full of Marjon ppl I think...

add me on msn - non-trust e-mail :p

I'm thinking of getting a Hyper PSU and some new, less messy IDE cables.

Think that will do the trick?

Or the odd Yewen have one terribly unstable and its replacement sounding like a jet, then later blowing up killing the system.

Tagan and Seasonic all the way personally, burned 2x out of 2 PSU's from Hiper.

Think I might stick to a 530W modular Tagen then. We'll have to see ;)

Here's an image of the top part of the case between the PSU and the optical:

I've also had a quick go at tidying it up, be gentle :p

That PC-7 looks nice and roomy, you should make it tidy a bit more which should improve the airflow a bit. Wow theres a lot of space between the drive and the PSU. Theres only like 2 inches or maybe less space between my Hiper and DVD drive in my Lanboy. Roflmofl

:D

Yeah, fair bit of room, it's just akward because I've got an 80mm amber running just above it and I don't want to get the wires caught in the blades.

I'm going to get some round IDEs and cable wraps soon anyway and a modular PSU, so that should make things easier to tidy.
